  • If you actually READ the sentence above the growing list of countries, you'd see the words "some form of travel warning".

The Smart Traveller link you keep responding with, lists a whole washing list of "normal" precautions to take when you visit the USA, including but not limited to: protests, violence, terrorism, guns, etc. Seriously, the advice includes getting active shooter training. That's not normal in any sense of the word.

In addition, the page states that you can apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), which if you'd done your research before blasting me, you'd discover is at the heart of many of the warnings issued by other countries. Specifically, if your passport doesn't match your gender assigned at birth, then your ESTA will, apparently, cause you to be turned back or locked up.

    Then there's this page: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/before-you-go/who-you-are/LGBTQIA

I won't be losing any sleep about my attempts to inform people about the reality of travelling to the USA at this time.

  • I've updated it a couple of times, it's getting longer.

  • It appears that these countries now have some form of warning associated with travelling to the USA:

    • Australia
    • Belgium
    • Canada
    • Denmark
    • Finland
    • France
    • Germany
    • Ireland
    • Mexico
    • Netherlands
    • New Zealand
    • Norway
    • Portugal

  • Decades ago this happened on my street with a local accounting company. Complete client files blowing up and down the street.

Given that client contact details were on the files, we contacted them directly. Suffice to say, they were not amused.

When the accountant opened three days later (long weekend), we handed over unidentified files. They didn't seem to think it was a big deal.

Very glad they were not my accountants.

  • It's on purpose and AFAIK for two main reasons:

    • To confuse the buyer
    • To be able to trademark and protect the brand
  • It appears that Germany has updated their information several times. So much so that your second link gives me a 404 error. There are multiple reports stating that Germany issued a travel warning. The most recent I could find is from three days ago: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/foreign-travel-warnings-about-us-travel.html

There are updates that are older than this that state that Germany changed its report and clarified that they weren't issuing a travel warning specifically, just heightened caution. That seems like "some form of warning" to me.

Australia has similar wording. While it describes the situation as "Green", it talks about heightened levels of alert and crime.

This is precisely why I worded my post: "It appears that these countries now have some form of warning associated with travelling to the USA:" (emphasis added).

I think that the wording that Germany is using falls under this heading.

  • If you think about it, these are government announcements, it's just over two months since the excrement started hitting the rotating equipment.

In that time a country needs to take note of the change in circumstances to its citizens, verify that it's happening systemically and not occasionally, formulate a response, approve the response, and then publish it.

Much of the border issues didn't appear to be visible until a month or so ago.

In other words, I think that this is lightening fast as diplomatic responses go.

  • In my experience, the single biggest bully on the internet are the servers controlled by Meta which in my experience literally perform DDoS attacks whilst crawling, hitting sites several orders of magnitude more than all the others combined.

Actively blocking them was the only option left.

  • Until reading the replies here, I had no idea what you were talking about. It did make me wonder which other words are banished with only their letter to show for it .. and it made me wonder if there are multiple words referred to by the same letter, causing more confusion in communication, the X-word, you mean the X or the other X word?

These are what I have so far:

    • c
    • f
    • n
    • s
    • r
