Here in Norway insurance is bound to how long you had your insurance, not the drivers license. If you've had the insurance for 7 years without an accident you get the cheapest price. And if you have it for 4 more years accident free you don't lose the 7 years if you have one.

It seems like you're describing the phenomenon where people get promoted up until the point where they don't do a good job anymore.

I never knew how people can not see that the position was not for them and still accept it, and even work the job for years.

I could take a job where I had the technical responsibility for what my team makes, but I don't ever want to be anybodys boss. All of that personal stuff on a day to day basis, negotiating pay, etc just isn't for me.

Yeah. Norwegian is also borrowing a lot of words from other languages like that. Lots of our words are in English as well. Our grammar is similar that way that we have differences in the ending structure for some of those borrowed words, but I only think we do that for verbs.

It wouldn't have to be that exact name though. Any H2G2 reference would be cool, like vogon, agrajag or something. But I see what you mean about just creating the same name on a different lemmy instance. I guess that's an aspect of the fediverse I hadn't thought about.

I like to think that my English is quite good, but this one threw me off. Am I supposed to understand from the name wug that the plural of wug is not wugs?

Edit: if plural of wug is wug, then why isn't plural of rug rug, but rugs? Or am I mistaken there as well?

I realize now that the up and downvote buttons are not in the inbox view. I was looking at the actual thread when I wrote it. In the inbox i only have the reply icon. See screen dump

I don't see that envelope icon. I just have the reply, up and down icons. But when I swipe left it first shows the reply icon and if I swipe further it turns into the envelope.

It was swipe left, thanks! That wasn't intuitive for me. At least that the option wasn't in the dot menu as well.

Edit: Now I just need to figure out how to Edit my original post.

No op just said Linux does exactly what you want. My point is that it sometimes is very hard to know how to do what you want. I am not saying Windows is any better in this regard though.

If you know exactly what you want and how to do it.

I spent countless hours trying to make my display driver working in Linux years ago. I knew what I wanted, but it was impossible. For me at least. I know many who has similar experiences.

I cannot figure out how to unsubscribe using the official app, so I figure my account is just abandoned. Not that I contributed much anyway.
