Wow, that is super weird actually.

Reminds me of an incident I had a few months ago. I arrived at work, by bike. I hadn't taken the bike for a good while, and I biked harder than I should have. Anyway, I sat down by my desk, and I started salivating.

It wasn't too much at first, I could keep up by swallowing. I immediately attributed it to the biking and wrote it off, and thought it would pass soon.

But it didn't. It kept getting worse. More saliva, and faster. I was swallowing mouthfuls at this point, and it was uncomfortable. Like I was being forced to drink lots of water, or being waterboarded.

At last I reached my breaking point and I swiftly walked to the bathroom, locked the door, and just stood with my mouth open and tongue hanging, over the sink, and it was just running, like a faucet opened just enough to be running yet not dripping. This is the part that was similar to your experience—I could feel my saliva... glands? excreting the saliva.

Anyway, this went on for about a minute or two, then it stopped, and I went on with my day.

Have never had something like that happen before, and not since.

These are two separate reasons and I only subscribe to the former one.

And I do it because I think it looks nice. It makes me happy when things look clean and tidy. Messy, while less work and sometimes more functional, perhaps, still makes me feel worse in my own home. I don't make my side of the bed to impress my wife. In fact, I get kind of annoyed when she doesn't make her side. But she has mostly wonderful qualities besides that, so I'm okay with it.

Either way, you're not exactly complaining that we like to make our beds, but I'm trying to let you understand that it's not always about some kind of principle or to impress, or otherwise useless reason. Sometimes it's just what makes you feel good. 🙂

In most cities in the US? That's crazy to me as a European lol. I guess I was acting privileged then.

Yeah, using it right now to play Horizon Forbidden West, and I'm hard in training to transition from an Xbox Elite Controller Series 2, which has two pairs of paddles. If the 8BitDo had two pairs, it would be an end game level controller for years to come, for me.
