What most people don't seem to understand is that every Android phone is a Google phone unless you go through the degooglification.

I would (and did) just use Apple phones if it weren't for GrapheneOS.

I realize that I'm an asshole for telling them what to do but here's what they need to do: They should drop all development of their own Android and put significant resources to making their next phone work with GrapheneOS.

I just tried to use Reddit with a new account. After spending about a week in it, I suddenly noticed that all my comments and postings received no upvotes or downvotes.

That's right. I was shadowbanned, which is to say that some part of the Reddit system (AI?) decided that I need to be put into a cage that I don't see, without telling me that it happened. Perhaps I was "evading a ban" or something. I don't think I did anything to deserve it, and the reddit admins don't answer to queries about it.

So yeah, Lemmy is infinite times better than Reddit.

En mä tiedä tarviiko tähän tuoda luksuksen ideaa lainkaan. Verojen tarkoitus on rahoittaa asioita eikä rangaista rahallisesti niitä ihmisiä joille on sattunut kertymään massia enemmän. Mutta olisihan se hieman epäreilua jos vuokralla Nurmijärvellä asuva, tunnollisesti säästänyt ja hyvin sijoittanut nuori kaveri joutuisi maksamaan tätä veroa enemmän kuin se vuorineuvos, jolla on 10 miljoonan asunto Lauttasaaressa.

Lopulta luulen, että siihen on ihan ok käytännön syitä miksi tästä verosta luovuttiin ja samaten miksi sitä ei tuoda takaisin. Toki voisi vilkaista sinne Sveitsiin päin ja tuumia onko se toteutettu siellä jotenkin erityisen järkevästi. Sveitsihän on ainakin ulkomaisille kuuluisa siitä, että siellä pitäisi olla jotenkin helpompi piilottaa omaisuuttaan.

I wouldn't mind renting software, if only subscription-based software was such that you only paid the money for the subscription. It would be a fine way of using something for a short term, and a fine way to get some sort of guarantee that the software is maintained.

I cannot recommend Bazzite. It's an atomic distribution, which is pioneer tech that tries to make some things better but in effect makes a lot of things more difficult. FWIW, I've been using Linux for 20+ years.
