  • Yes, yes, very clever to name the site of a genocide "Ghorman Pl]aza," and have a character specifically emphasize the word "genocide" in a Senate chamber […]

    🤯 Holy shit that’s brilliant!

  • This one seems different in that the barrier for entry is pretty high, plus the actual finished mod is not intended to be played very heavily.

  • Per their project page in 2024 they were taking orders to create the shells. Maybe there’s a loophole that exists where the housing is exempt because the internals are DIY.

In any case, money was involved.

  • I just can’t believe that the retro community has not latched onto some trademark moniker at this point to avoid any kind of legal trouble. Tendo? NTDO? I dunno, anything! lol

  • Printing “Nintendo” on the device has got to be a bad idea, right?

  • Taurozzi had pet insurance, but it didn't cover Coal's full medical bills. He said Coal's medical care cost more than $30,000.

He raised more than $15,000 through a Go Fund Me campaign, which helped extend Coal's life and gave him the best medical care available.

I was devastated when I decided I couldn’t afford $900 in vet bills for my cats, but this is insane.

  • I’m kind of all socialed out at this point—even being on Lemmy is a bit much some days, but if Gander can get its own version of Facebook’s Marketplace I’d be willing to have a gander myself.

EDIT: Hol up, it’s built on AT Protocol. I’m not sure if a marketplace would be possible the way it works now. sad goose noise*

    🇨🇦 Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

  • That’s unreal. The timelapse of the move is worth the click.

ETA: the Samsung car moving robots are kind of amazing. Goodbye valet jobs!

  • Of course, put the 5-storey parking garage right on the waterfront.

The story behind that Canada logo you see everywhere

  • -1 karma into a one minute-old platform? Yeah that’s Reddit.

  • Depends on the complexity of the route. When I visit my parents in another city (5-6 hour drive) I write down the intersections/exit numbers to look out for on a sticky note I leave on the dashboard.

I guess if you wanted to get detailed you could include the distance then as you drive do the mental math as an activity for yourself.

  • I do something similar except I’ll stop using my GPS if I’ve driven the route multiple times.

  • I still remember picking up a couple TouchPads during the fire sale. That was my first foray into sideloading and retro gaming. Both tablets are now long dead, but we had fun times!

  • I’m pretty sure Dyson killed these themselves the moment they turned these from concept to product.

  • Maybe they believe they’re “one of the good ones”.

  • In these politically charged times I think you need to provide a blurb or something to subdue the knee jerk outrage.

"This initiative will help us fulfill our responsibility to share NASA's story widely and effectively – by reducing the number of accounts, improving the signal-to-noise ratio of content, and making our messaging more unified and accessible."

So nothing whatsoever to do with cuts that could be headed the agency's way or dodging an awkward social media moment if an axe should fall on a perfectly functional mission, right? No, this is all about consolidating posts, so users keen on following the Voyager mission don't have to bother hunting down a feed for the spacecraft; it'll all be under @NASASolarSystem and @NASAJPL.

Affected accounts, such as @NASAVoyager, will run a version of their greatest hits before the end finally comes and someone presses the archive button. As for what "archived" means, there will be no more posts, and eventually the account will be removed. A spokesperson told us, "As part of this process, we're working to ensure compliance with record retention requirements."

  • I like the direction, but I’d need the transparency to be dialled down a bit cause the contrast is missing.
