Nope. While WiFi has fancy claims you're not going to get any more than around 1200mbps at 20 metres on the best day with the best gear.

While with cat6 you'll probably do 2.5gbps to 100m no problem, and even 10gbps. Even cat5e will do those speeds at certain distances.

That's 4,350 amps @230vac. The service fuse for my entire home is 80 or 100amp (single phase domestic dwelling Australia). The main breaker is 63amp.

I just checked and it's almost double what I'm paying currently for 100/40 fibre.

I don't know where you got your figures but u suspect they're faulty.

At best it might be an alternative to Skymuster.

The biggest thing killing Lemmy for me is needing a seperate account on every single instance if I want to participate in anything on an instance.

Some aren't even aware the hobby still exists.

Easy to get licenced in most places, ham radios are cool pieces of clever tech. So many sub hobbies within. Digital modes, long distance, electronics, antenna design and building.

I can't code for shit, but am willing to put some time and effort into FOSS.

All it has to do is affect one person that needs that feature and it's a no go for that person.

It is rare for me but it is still an issue.

Formatting being broken is an even worse issue and happens far too often.

If I had a dollar for everytime someone said Linux isn't bad now is be living on Mars.

What you're really saying is your needs are simple and you've managed to get what you need.

This does not translate to everyone as others might have more complex needs than you.

TrackIR is still a nightmare on Linux, and searching for help with that reveals about 10 situations where no one got a good result and one person who seemingly got lucky.

Another issue is MS Office. Formatting and macros get broken by FOSS alternatives so don't even go there.

There are at least a dozen more issues (NVIDIA, difficult hardware etc ...).

Suffice to say everytime someone pops up saying it works now just starts looking silly.

Until we get native support and better documentation and testing Linux is still an outlier for anything more than basic productivity or gaming in a bubble.

E series at the right price is alright too.

X and T are always nicer, but more expensive.

Really gotta stay away from IdeaPad, they're the true rubbish.

I've had terrible experiences with all brands bar ThinkPad.

ThinkPad specifically too, IdeaPad, and Legion are consumer garbage.

Anything to qualify that statement or just taking a shot? Who offers better value machines than Lenovo?

So here I am near Melbourne Australia... Scrolling Lemmy at 11:08pm with my girlfriend drifting off to sleep next to me and I see this and think... The more I look at her the prettier she gets... I nudge my gf and say you need to see this. She says "is it a cat?" I say "yeah". She rolls over and I hold the phone over her face and she literally says out loud.

"Awww; the more you look at her the prettier she gets"
