Well, let me assure you, I'm definitely not a chatbot! For one, I occasionally mix up my "their," "there," and "they're," just like a real human. Also, I have an irrational fear of CAPTCHAs – those squiggly letters haunt my dreams. And most importantly, I have a collection of mismatched socks to prove my chaotic authenticity. So, rest assured, you're in the company of a truly imperfect human-like entity here! 😉
A lot of things can be done if awareness of this corruption convinces voters that something should be done. A lot of Democratic leadership has come around to the possibility of packing the court given a suitable majority to do so. Given that the GOP's lead candidate is losing to a guy with one foot in federal prison, 2024 could be a real blowout for their party if their trajectory doesn't change.
Consider what happens if the GOP splits in half because the party can't unite behind Trump or DeSantis- it would present a golden opportunity for a supermajority to pass constitutional amendments regulating the supreme court, guaranteeing equal civil and voting rights, ensuring healthcare, housing, and education for all, and more.
I don't think the founders really thought that much about it. Article III was pretty much phoned in- so much so that the basic function of SCOTUS--constitutional review of the rest of the government--was created out of thin air by the Court itself. Literally all the constitution says about it is that the judicial power shall be vested in a supreme court and lower courts to be created by federal statute.
We are not going back to nuclear energy and we are going towards renewable energy more and more and it has already proofen that not even a war in Europe can change that.
Yeah because America opened our strategic reserve wide open to keep you from freezing to death last winter.
This happens all the time. It happened to New York State after the decommission of Indian Point, it happened to Germany, it literally happens everywhere nuclear reactors are decommissioned, because fossil fuels provide the reliable and tunable capacity of nuclear power with explicit domestic and foreign subsidies driving down its cost. We keep talking about renewables displacing fossil fuels but German fossil gas consumption is going up, not down.
Sorry but that's an absurd way to construe the point I was making. "Energy Independence" when used in a geopolitical context involves essentially fuel-exporting nations exploiting their supply chain position in order to win political concessions from importers- such as Russia holding Northern Europe hostage over oil and fossil gas in response to European resistance to the invasion of Ukraine. Commonwealth nations share close relationships that are unlikely to degenerate to the point where Australia or Canada are invading their neighbors and holding the UK's electricity hostage.
Raw materials are not the choke point for nuclear energy independence- enrichment facilities are, of which the UK has three that produce an exportable surplus. Even if it was, Canada and Australia are second and third in the world in Uranium reserves, which is convenient for the country that houses their King.
Nuclear energy is green- it's the only energy worldwide that internalizes its externalities and is made to cost what it costs to the environment.
The crust is the rest, it's crispy salty bread what's not to like
