  • those users are using a lot of bandwidth and the piracy forms a handy excuse.

Or they could improve their network for torrenting like some Indian ISPs did in the past

Several Internet providers in India have found a clever way to reduce the load BitTorrent transfers put on their network, [...] They've teamed up with Torbox.net which offers a fully fledged torrent search engine that connects users to 'local' peers to guarantee maximum download speeds.

Some [ISPs] have had their own custom ‘caching’ setups but increasingly they are teaming up with the torrent search engine Torbox.

Torbox links them to peers in the local network, which means that the traffic is free for the ISP.

Most people who visit Torbox will see a notice that their ISP doesn’t have a peering agreement. However, for those who have a supporting ISP the torrent site returns search results ordering torrents based on the proximity of downloaders.

TorrentFreak spoke with EBS director Victor Francess, who says that with this setup most torrent data is served from within the ISP’s own network.

“It all creates a very powerful user experience, so in fact just about 10-20% of all torrent traffic comes from the upstream and everything else is local,” Francess says.

  • Probably a few days, like 3 maybe. I forget sometimes.

    "Why hands shaky?"
    Oh...

  • I tried, unfortunately, I wasn't able to get recognizable sounds out of the "images". However, it seems perhaps some music SSTV image generator could be made. I found this image that makes interesting and for SSTV unusual sounds: https://files.catbox.moe/vr9yjw.png

At least with RGB modes. Screen record with Martin 1 mode: https://files.catbox.moe/s5c9kh.mp4

  • No problem then, marriage is just a paper. Just be careful about property in case of divorce.

  • Image passed a few times over Robot 36, Robot 72 and PD 50 from speaker to microphone at lowest volume in a room with other noise.

So the capture of RF out is closest, since it's actually analog modes meant for ham radio use. The noise is just not from RF but audio.

  • Ah, the times when all phones and laptops in Tesco were unlocked for testing by customers and playing porn every day.

  • I live in a city where "people" sometimes throw around sausages with razors for dogs to eat and die. So there's that.

  • Ah, it does generate actual MS links there. My bad.

  • They "fixed" that now though.

    But
Shift + F10 to open CMD

     <>

    cd oobe
    bypassnro

The machine will reboot and let you skip network setup. But do not connect to a network yet!

  • F-Droid (default repo) offers old versions. Good luck downgrading apps from Play Store.

It also makes it easy to find open-source apps. Generally they also provide more info useful to me as a regular user - manuals and changelogs. Open-source app changelogs often show far more info, even library version changes. Meanwhile the average Play Store app changelog is "small improvements, better ad experience"

Play Store needs to implement version archive and license filters. Oh, and easier beta access. Currently the registration takes extra time, and can only be done with the original account the app was installed with.

  • And then there's me who watched the entire thing in 1 day.

Hmm, it seems there's also S2 now.

  • Just trans? It clearly talks about some trans mission!

  • Jokes on you, there's no /dev/sd* on my system anymore.

    Just /dev/nvme* and /dev/mmcblk*

Garbage text follows, I got carried away way too much. No need to keep reading. I mean, no need to even... let's not write a book here.

And sometimes /dev/sr* because I like mechanical storage devices. If there's enough time, I'll even burn a DVD and boot that rather than use Ventoy. I like the sound and extra work - putting it on the spindle, burning, verifying, marking the disc, waiting minutes for the boot-up and having enough time to read the boot messages. Some DVDs/CDs even had really nice smell, but I don't know how to identify those.

Time wasting, unnecessary? Yes, but I like the process.
Same reason why I pay for Mullvad in cash.
Print envelope, print payment token, put the cash and token in, close, choose postage stamps to use, wet them with a fine brush (I WILL NOT LICK THEM, YUCK) and stick them on. Then carry it to mailbox and wait for the time to be added. This is slow, expensive and tedious, but I like it. Oh, and I get to see many different postage stamps.

Today I received more I ordered, and holy shit!!! I got some special unique ones! COVID-19 stamp with 3D effects that can be felt with finger, heat embossed stamp of a not so good former president (but the stamp is only of its kind) and a fucking lenticular soccer-themed stamp (moving image based on angle of viewing) and more!
My reason for choosing Mullvad... and I fucking got carried away so damn much. Aaaaaaaaaaa...

  • No, Wireless Application Protocol.
