It's unfortunate, but understandable. Fear of death is a powerful motivator. That's why tyrants resort to it so frequently.
More and more news makes it sound like Russian conscripts get better treatment in Ukraine's POW camps than they do in the Russian military. Hopefully, more and more of them can find ways to lay down arms and exit the conflict to safety.
Their constitution says the US isn't even supposed to keep a standing army. There's lots of discussion about that by the people who wrote it and decided on the specific language.
Also, you're right about the 2nd amendment. The part about the well regulated militia is part of the right, a qualifier, not subsequent.
But, people in the US, both government and citizens, clearly don't follow their constitution very well. It's used to justify whatever they want to do when they can and freely ignored when inconvenient.
Acidic sweat could slowly leech the tanning chemicals from the leather. Him or her being naked isn't necessary. More likely to happen somewhere warm and humid, though. Probably the US southeast, like Louisiana, Florida, or similar.
The Newsom-bot is more a brand than a person with positions/feelings/principles. No doubt Fetterman would be the better president for the people. But, yeah, it's been pretty obvious Democrats have been trying to set up Newsom for a potential run at the WH for a while now. He's always been pliable to the demands of special interests and investors, extremely economically palatable to the wealthy and photogenic for the cameras. Exactly the kind of shallow, skin-deep, buyable candidate that meets all the textbook qualifications for a major political party presidential run. He's the definition of calculated compliance to liberal ideals, an HR exec in a blue neck tie.
Good for Fetterman calling him out. Hopefully, he finds it in himself to make a major play for 2028.

US "Conservatives" propose slashing $4B from conservation budget, because, to them, words are meaningless and children's futures don't matter.
