  • Kids books from the 70s, because I have my finger on the pulse. Just starting The Dark is Rising.

  • I should clean, but I'm going to read instead.

  • Not a good day for being at the cricket. Or being a firefighter quite probably.

  • Nice. I'm doing asparagus and goats cheese tarts, potato salad, a pav, and some wine for our picnic lunch.

I was going to bring chocolates too but there's not much point, they'll just melt. I'll save them for something else.

  • Barley, rye, oats, wheat, and triticale all have gluten. I've never encountered triticale but I had to memorise that list for an exam decades ago and it seems to be permanently imprinted on my brain.

I'm so impressed with so much baking, especially in the heat!

  • Mine have recently started charging more based on how long the consult actually takes, on a sliding scale. Which makes sense, and I love how thorough my GP is, but it gets a bit exxy.

  • Maybe it would be fairer to let everyone down and start your holidays early.

  • Mine just has a "safety" feature where it screeches at me when there's something ahead, so I have to have a heart attack, work out what the alert is for, and THEN start breaking. It actually distracts from whatever hazard's come up in front of me.

  • I can't remember the last time I had a haircut under $100!

  • Be like those old ladies who don't wash their own hair, they go to the salon three times a week for a blow dry and a gossip.

  • The cat is mad at me because there's cream in the fridge and it's not all in his belly (just some). He's given up yelling at the fridge and is now glaring at me, and occasionally mixing it up with looking very sad and lean.

  • Update: it's a Jemena issue that seems to be stemming from some planned works that didn't go to plan rather than the heat. Estimated repair time four hours. At least I can still watch the cricket.

  • I think there's less power coming through. The tv works, and one light, and the fridge seems to still be running but the inside light is dim. Nothing else. I imagine it'll come good at some point. The safety switch hasn't flipped so I reckon it's them not me.

Guess I'll just watch the cricket in the dark.

  • Brown out in Heidelberg. There's some power, but not much.
