Funny - that is an about face from what vegans used to claim.
Every vegan I've talked to says they don't eat living things. Literally - every one of them.
I have to laugh whenever vegans claim they don't eat living things. Since when are plants and vegetables not living things? They aren't conscious in the same way people are but they do "live," digest, respirate, and reproduce, and some of them have elaborate networks of roots that they use to send chemical signals to each other.
Anyway, not to knock vegans, some of my friends and family are and they seem to be doing great. Just, whenever I'm eating good chicken wings, or ribs, or any meat with a bone in it, I certainly feel glad to have that "carnivorous" side.
Those sleeves on the popcorn buckets do look very anal....I'm sure this guy wouldn't be the first to stick his doohickey into one. And guys have been putting their peenies into popcorn buckets since movie theaters started selling popcorn.
I read somewhere that doctors are starting to link drinking energy drinks to the growing rise in young people getting colorectal cancers in their 20s and 30s. I don't see why that would follow - it could be a number of other things, like lifestyle or other factors causing it.
I totally agree, anything that takes people's eyes off the road is not a good choice to put into cars. Cars may have more safety features than ever, but let's face it, drivers are still too easily distracted and too careless. Here in Utah we have so many highway fatalities every day, people driving the wrong way on freeways, and speeding around school buses with their stop signs out. There's no good fix for "stupid."
Sickening. What kind of sick organization calls itself "church militant" anyway. Not that it's really such an oxymoron anymore, but how blatant can you be about being immoral and totally opposite of everything a church is supposed to be about!! 'm glad the judgment was in favor of the plaintiff.
Isn't it terrible how adults act. Threatening legal action against this troop for trying to do something to help. That's just sickening. Thank god there are people in the world who actually care about what's going on with the horrific genocide in the middle east.
Therapy is really a kind of self-reflective medicine; the more you give to it the more you get out of it. I think people often think the therapist is there to "cure" them of a disease like a doctor. But in fact, they were there for the patient to see their own troubles and discover their best means to manage them.
My point is that just because therapy may not instantly provide a cure doesn't mean it isn't worth it. I think most people today could use that kind of help and need someone they can talk with openly about almost anything. Don't knock it - it's a great resource that really can turn your life around for the better.
Thank you, Augie. This needed to be said. I've often wondered why we glamorize military people and give them all kinds of regard, but we don't give a shit about the people who really do the work behind the scenes, we don't think about the health professionals who toil long hours or the even lesser seen people in healthcare billing who (believe me) toil tirelessly to make sure our insurances pay what they should and all the teachers and assistants who put in huge long hours.
There are more kinds of heroes out there than just military ones, or political ones. People who never get noticed but deserve to be.
It's more than just genocide, it's what happens whenever you let men have unfettered access to weapons to hurt and torture and kill. It's bloodshed and outright murder. And nothing in the world or in heaven above can ever justify it. There's only one commandment about any of it - "thou shalt not kill." (I'm not religious btw but, just saying). There is no exception because of "war," or because of freeing hostages, or anything else.
Yeah I don't think this is all on her - whether Israel continues to be armed by the U.S. She may have power but not the power to decide single-handedly how this operation is carried out. But I agree, she needs to help push for an end to Israel's campaign of genocide. At least she's coming out on the side of stopping this and blaming Netanyahu (which will fall on deaf ears anyway).
The difference is I didn't pull a lever or make a choice to help ensure that those people who die every day would die. And I disagree about ignoring things because I "have no reasonable influence" over them. I might not be able to change the fact that people die every day, but I sure as hell can act responsibly to help make sure I'm not part of the problem (i.e, I'm a safe driver, I don't drink, I don't own a gun, etc.). I do not think that anyone on earth is more non-ignorant of and conscientious about the plight of others on this planet, something I think about constantly.
What is it about spiders, especially black shiny ones, that brings out the ICK factor and the OOG factor. I'd rather deal with the guy on the left, and I really don't want to do that at all. There's something about radial symmetry - having lots of legs in a radial pattern that is somehow frightening to our brains, I think. Remember the fence around the forbidden lands in Planet of the Apes? It looked like big spiders to me and scared me as a kid.
:( poor turtle orphling. I don't agree that the secret to a long life is a burden free life, but that the secret to a long life is strength that comes from meeting and resolving the challenges that get thrown at you. It's not the easy things but the hard things that give you scars that make you stronger.
I still would not be able to live with any action that caused people to die, whether it was my moral fault or not. And I wouldn't want to have to live with that either.

I hope people are OK with cis people being OK with themselves. I fully support trans people. I recently had a letter published in our local paper about how if trans people ever do act out, (this was in regard to a shooter who had identified as a trans person) it will be because of all the bigotry and hateful legislation driving them (and many others of us LGBTQ) to do something extreme.
You get put down for being LGBTQ, and then you get put down for defending yourself whatever your gender or orientation. It's a no-win situation.
I saw that musical, it was sold out here in Utah. I felt they did a good job portraying some of the horrors of going out as a missionary into a hostile world. It was really good, it kind of made me feel bad for being so anti-missionary.

I hope you'll continue drawing, it's a talent that I envy. There's so much power in it.
I'll take a couple. You can never have enough doohickeys. Do these peenies come with peeny covers?
