  • ... and no encryption of groups.

It's a huge Russian psy-op where they pretended Durov had to go into exile while he in reality cooperated with the regime.

  • Matrix. Just use matrix.org unless you know of another server that would have you.

  • Telegram is Russian spyware and has no security whatsoever by default.

Signal is good. Matrix is good.

  • xx.yy.ZZZZ strikes again.

  • I think I just saw somone report that ~25% could be blamed on climate change. That's not 0, that's not 100%, so it would be a bit strange to just blaime the oil industry.

I mean it would be a good idea to ... remove all those non-native eucalyptus trees having been planted all over California? Those are basically pure explosive fuel.

  • ... the billionaire proof version of Bluesky is ... Mastodon.

  • Absolutely. Part of masking is to emulate behavior you've observed even though you don't understand it.

The child in question often need us parents to point out what happened and then they're able to say the correct things. What I meant was that it's not obvious to them that someone got offended - at all - to begin with.

  • You're still making it a bit too easy for you. "Not caring about other people’s feelings" is very close to "Not able to understand why somebody reacts and feels a certain way" but is definitely not the same thing.

I'm a parent to (at least one diagnosed so far) autistic child and there are plenty of situations in which this very kind, friendly and empathic person is simply unable to understand why one of the other siblings reacted as they did. Has nothing to do with whether they care or not.

  • My 12yo learnt about Recall from some Youtube video and has now said they want to move to Linux. I'm not fully convinced it's possible though, I know they have some modding tools etc for indie games that seem to be Windows only. Let's see.

  • How do you prevent someone making a bomb out of gas cans and pyrotechnics by replacing batteries ... ? Those weren't even affected by the explosion/fire.

  • Deflation has a good chance of forcing a stop to endless consumerism - and that will at least be good for the climate. It will cause havoc to the current economic system though, and that in turn could make things worse for investments into green tech.

    So ... yeah.

  • The thread talks about what happens after marriage. I suggest not marrying people you haven't been vulnerable in front of.

  • Yeah sorry, if you don't get why those parts of those papers are relevant there's probably not much I can help you with there :) I'm quite convinced you have no interest in the actual topic - you're performing a well known debating technique that stems from the need to avoid cognitive dissonance. As long as you can fault find sources - in any way - you can conclude that the premise in question is false and thus continue believing what it now is you need to believe for your own sanity's sake.

    Enjoy.

  • If you ask for scientific backing it's a bit rich to then complain on you not being able to read said papers. However, let me tell you about sci-hub:

    https://sci-hub.se/https://doi.org/10.1177/0959353517727560

The "Analysis and discussion" heading is interesting reading.

    This paper is also relevant:

    https://sci-hub.se/https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/07448481.2021.1927049

Women (M = 1.46, SD = 1.83) were more likely than men (M = 1.83, SD = 1.16) to believe that being ready to have sex and their partner’s desire for sex are important to consider in relationships (t(254) = –2.863, p < .01).

  • Not fully convinced you're discussing marriage like the rest of us here tbh

  • Look at the demographics of those who create, share and upvote memes from the man's (this thread) and the woman's point of view.

Entirely possible - yes. Statistically likely - no.

  • It's funny because any man stating "this is true" etc is just telling on themselves. If the physical attraction was there before marriage the only reason it would disappear after marriage is that one person is suddenly not "putting in the effort" any more.

That effort doesn't start with a bj.

  • Maybe you're talking about the previous models? The platform starting with ID.7 is amazing. Yes, I replaced my Tesla with an ID.7. Two of my friends waited a bit longer and grabbed the GTX ID.7 Tourer model instead - now voted best EV of 2024.

The price of my ID.7 was slightly more than the much smaller Model 3, and way cheaper than Polestar and KIA.
