  • I prefer to argue on the internet via my phone, which I can type pretty fast on thanks to the swipe to type

I'm the opposite... I rarely reply when I'm on my phone because swiping and tapping away at the touchscreen keyboard is so slow and inaccurate. I spend more time correcting swypos than I do writing I think.

Meanwhile on the desktop I can punch out a shining example of wit (or at least a spoonerism of that) at 100+ wpm at 100% accuracy.

    Sent from my phone, slowly.

  • Pretty much never. Direct family only really.

Talking is for IRL, or actually urgent things. Everything else is a message or email.

Don't ring me to discuss an email.

  • After reading the site, I'm still not entirely sure how to use it.

Is there a decent demo site somewhere? The examples they show are very simplistic

  • Whenever I see Lemmy without being logged in , it's a wall of German and all I can think of is "ach, du lieber... das ist not eine booby!"

  • "A voice note is just like talking on the phone but better," says Susie Jones, a 19-year-old student. "You get the benefits of hearing your friend's voice but comes with no pressures so it's a more polite way of communicating".

Gross, voice notes are the worst of both worlds.

Text for things that are information critical, phone calls for things that are time critical.

Email for business (and keep the original chain going instead of starting a new one every time you think of something else to add!), text messages for associates, chat apps for friends and family.

    Anyone who disagrees is wrong.

  • 5/10, which I mostly blame on not caring about celebrity news stories.

  • I used to buy books from Booktopia a lot, because reading text on LCD / LED screens is horrible.

But then I discovered epaper devices and the convenience of carrying your entire library around in something half the size of a single paperback.

Surprised there's still a big enough demand for physical books to be honest.

  • I can't set a reminder.

I said "Hey Google, set a reminder to feed the dog at 9am tomorrow" and it seems to work fine?

  • The one in my hand with a silicon case feels fine. Camera bump is only obnoxiously noticeable when it's naked.

  • Wow, I must have just snuck my install in...

Presumably this removal was accidental right?

  • It's not, but it's old Reddit with more attributes that prevent a transition to corporate Reddit so I'll take it.

  • This smacks of corporate social media bullshit more than anything organic

  • On the plus side, the more people who don't use password managers the more chance us password manager users will remain not worth the effort.

It's kinda like security through obscurity mixed with only having to be faster than the slowest person to outrun a lion.

  • I don't even care if that original post was a pure work of fiction, I still have CBat on my favourites and every time I hear it start and that big build up leads to nothing but squeaky sad clown noses it makes me giggle so hard my mood is instantly improved. Best anti depressant ever.

  • I was talking about something mainstream from oneplus, realme, etc.

Aye, no true Chinese phone maker would be a piece of crap

  • By this argument I could join a tennis tournament and take a shit on the court and punch the judge and you’d think that makes me a star player because people that don’t follow tennis heard of me.

Where did I say I thought they were a star? I just said they're the only one I remember. If you shat on a tennis court in front of (hundreds of?) millions of people during a global broadcast event I reckon I'd remember you too.

  • Right, but you can see why from my perspective I would find my own mindshare the the most important?
