  • Their detailed anecdote relating their relevant personal experience is infinitely more valuable and appreciated than your flippant acronym.

  • Going to dine and dash my local Chinese restaurant tonight out of respect 🙏

  • He's American, literally. Doesn't matter where he's from, old mates comment stands.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rupert_Murdoch

In 1981, Murdoch bought The Times, his first British broadsheet, and, in 1985, became a naturalized US citizen, giving up his Australian citizenship, to satisfy the legal requirement for US television network ownership.

  • I report every mailing list email as spam, unless I specifically signed up for it.

So sick of, say, getting my car serviced... and next minute I'm getting email spam about deals on oil and air fresheners or something because deep down in the 14 pages of text they want you to accept while you're standing at the counter is a pre-ticked box that says "allow us to spam you indefinitely?". It's not like I want to sign up for anything, but to get the oil changed on my Hyundai apparently I need an email address so they can send me confirmations of my appointment. Sounds legit.... oh wait, actually its just an excuse to spam me about the new Kona.

We did a US trip last year and I was getting DAILY emails from Applebees because I put my email address in to get a copy of my receipt when I paid once. Who the heck wants DAILY spam about dinner ffs?

  • and Rupert Murdoch.

How is that any different to what they already said?

  • Public transport doesn't go anywhere near my house or work, but fingers crossed it makes my commute better by virtue of taking others off the road!

  • It doesn't help that any trade related work is both bullshit expensive, and terrible quality.

Go ahead and try and get a price on installing insulation. It'll be infinite dollars and the blokes that turn up (in a dual cab Ranger) to do the job will be in and out in 15 minutes having done the barest possible minimum and leaving you to deal with all the issues they've created by half-arsing it.

  • A depressingly accurate observation.

I hate current year "news" were its just Twitter dickheads reacting to other Twitter dickheads.

  • I like Rex... Whenever we fly domestic we try and use them. Mostly because they've never cancelled a flight we've been on, ever.

Also you can bid for business class seats and often get them for cheap.

  • I have a library with hundreds of games I don't play anymore. If Stream closed I'd just have hundreds plus a rounding area I can't play anymore.

I will have already got my enjoyment from the games but the time Steam ever closes down.

  • DavX doesn't get much simpler for Android.. it's even included in the Nextcloud installer which launches DavX and prefills half the fields for you.

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.bitfire.davdroid

For iPhone, you can copy the shared link from the Nextcloud web interface and add it as a CardDav account. Not sure of a simpler way, I don't use iPhone and had to just figure it out one time for someone else

  • Anyone who is old enough to remember trying to buy digital copies of games pre-Steam knows how much value Stream brings to the table.

If it's not on Steam, I don't even consider it.

  • I thought I was enjoying the Lamington experience, but perhaps I am wrong.

    Here's a joke though:

    Q. How do you turn a cat in to a dog?
    A. Cover it in petrol and light a match... Woof!

Q2. How do you turn it back in to a cat?
A2. Stick it in the freezer, then cut it in half with a bandsaw... Mmmeeoooooow

Apparently I shared this joke when I changed kindergartens as my "tell everyone about yourself, and tell us a funny joke you heard" introduction thing. According to the teacher I was in stitches the whole time, but did riff a little in the middle with some improv which ended up involving trees and cars and a snowman somehow.

  • People who still use Twitter: why?
