I had a very extensively curated feed but I was only a lurker. But I'd made a separate account for actually posting something some years later, so I'd use that feature to post from my "public" account to the account that had the good content

And sometime later I had made a 3rd account for a different reason. And I don't believe you could see which account you were currently on before switching. Often I'd start posting and forget which one I was on, so had to use that option to make sure I was posting from the correct account

I'm with you on that one. I use a 3rd party app and it's nice getting that piped link. It uses the in-app browser and I don't have to go through any extra steps

Hah, I replied higher up in the comments that when I signed up for reddit, I also didn't need an email address and I think that particular one never required setting one

Newer accounts definitely did and I used different emails for those accounts

Back when I signed up for reddit, you didn't need an email and they warned you if you lost your password you'd be locked out of your account until you regained it and they would not offer support to reset it

I liked that. I don't want to have to submit my email for everything just to interact

I don't mind and I'm not asking you to edit it any further; I just find it endearing. Lemmy and the apps (I started on wefwef/vger), along with the fediverse, are all a growing and evolving entity and it's fascinating being along for the ride

But I did find out they released a game last year! So indeed, I am living under a rock :(

I need to actually finish those games. They're incredible

I lost my enjoyment of gaming, but thinking about playing through the half life anthology is actually making me excited... Gunna get started this weekend, thanks!
