You're not wrong, they are absolutely within their rights, and Skyblivion shouldn't preclude others from Oblivion projects (especially not the IP holders). But it still rubs me and others the wrong way. Bethesda doesn't need to do this; they aren't hurting for cash. It feels petty to jump on the Oblivion remaster train right as this public (free) project, that has been worked on for like a decade, is nearing the end of its production. It's just slimy behaviour from Bethesda IMO, but I will definitely give them kudos for not issuing a cease and desist.
His team over at Last Week Tonight pull lots of funny stunts like this and have made quite a few hilarious websites. I wouldn't be surprised if this one is featured on the next episode!
If anything its just another data mine for the political beliefs of potential dissidents. And before you say anything, yes, I am this much fun at parties as well
After reading that I thought the 'HDMI Forum' was a literal internet forum of nerds who invented HDMI and didn't want to make it open source for anyone. lol.
In like the 1940s Elon Musk's grandfather was a chiropractor in Regina, Saskatchewan and was arrested by the RCMP for being a central figure in an organization that was trying to overthrow the government and install a technocracy. I'm not kidding.
After that is when he fucked off to South Africa to partake in the Apartheid.
Fwiw I'm new to Linux and went with KDE (using X11) and it seems totally buggy as shit. I love it though. I don't even wanna try the other desktop environments
Man I was just telling my wife about this the other day. YouTube's home page, not signed in, on an American VPN was disgusting: AI slop, half-naked women, and propaganda that was not only pro-Trump but actively suggesting violence
Half right. There are credible rumors that they'll be releasing a remaster of Oblivion soon, which is a separate project from TES 6. And yeah, it's a major dick move.
I'm on lemm.ee! It seems to have a good balance of users and sensible defederation. On mobile, the app you use make a world of a difference too. Both Jerboa and Thunder (Android) were mid tier experiences, but now I'm using Boost and it's phenomenal!
I'm going to go against the grain here and recommend that you NOT use Mint. I've been using a linux for a month now, so I'm new to it like you.
My first time trying Linux was Mint, and I didn't like it at all. There was too much crap downloaded on it, and it abstracted the underlying systems too much, so I found it all very confusing. I suggest that you download a distro that Mint is based on, and then install the actual stuff you want on it.
Mint is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian. I decided to go with Debian as a total noob and it makes waaay more sense to me this time around. I enjoy customizing it to my liking rather than Mint doing it all for me—often in ways I don't like.
Realistically, we are so fucked. One single bomb on a highway or railway can completely decimate any one of our province's ability to move people or goods and perform services. Our border is too long and wild to be defendable. And they could probably take out our entire military logistics in a single night of bombings. All of this isn't even to mention that if they wanted to go all out insane they could make nuclear threats if the Canadian government doesn’t capitulate. I'm not saying we couldn't resist once occupied, it's just fucking hideous to think about.
Just chiming in to throw some light hearted shade at lemmy.world for defederating from the piracy communities. My time on lemmy.world was really poor, and I came away not thinking too highly of Lemmy as a whole. My experience in different instances has been a world of difference, and I finally get fantastic content in my feeds and am fully on board with Lemmy
