I reckon a chef (who also cleans the kitchen once they're done for the day). Delicious meals prepared for me and time saved cooking / cleaning up afterwards would transform my life.
Back home after picking up my mum from the hospital. I left around 3am once we realised she wasn’t going to get seen by the doctor for hours, and I would be too tired to safely drive her home. Took until 10am to get her scans done, and 3pm to get the all clear, so a long stint in ED. She’s just got some bruises and she’s a bit sore, so glad that’s all it is.
I went to the tow truck place to clear out her car and she’s lucky the collison was on the passenger side and not the driver side, because she would have been severely injured. The other person involved was completely fine, newer car with way more airbags that cushioned the impact.
Barely slept last night and all the driving around today, I’m exhausted.
I’m at the ED at hospital. My mum was in a really bad car accident. Thankfully it’s just bruising but it could have been much, much worse. Her car was totalled. Driving up to the accident seeing all the police / ambulance / fire truck lights and then her totalled car was truly scary. I’m just thankful she’s OK. Waiting to do scans to make sure nothing is broken, then I’ll drive her home.
My biggest client decided to call for a Friday late afternoon pow-wow which has properly fried my brain. Ready to check out mentally for the weekend. This week felt like a lot for some reason, but not as shitty as last week so we're on the up.
Had a late & boozy one yesterday and no energy for cooking anything so took myself out to a sit-down brunch for the first time in a while. I remember why I don’t do this anymore. So expensive and small servings. At least the coffee slapped, I’m feeling human again.
I made it for a new year party and it was a hit! So going to impress different friends with it.
Here’s the recipe I use. I don’t bother with the cream topping for a pie I need to transport and want to make the day before eating, and it’s still very nice without it. But I’d do it for a home pie.
And there’s usually some leftover chocolate filling you can eat on its own.
Last time I did a biscoff base instead of Oreo like the recipe calls for, this time I’ll try the Oreo.
What a shitty week. Work finally done, going to go for a walk to soak up the last of the warmth. Then I need to make my chocolate pie for a friends dinner tomorrow, will have a beer during to make the process more fun. THEN I can relax.
Those are very valid reasons, benefiting others and most importantly your health. I’m lucky that I never took up smoking even though I was surrounded by friends / family who smoked. So I don’t have any advice to share except you got this!
