I can't wait to use it, but it seems it doesn't support overseas income yet and I live full-time outside of the US (and yes we legally have to file taxes every year even if we won't owe anything).

I'll miss his regular content, but dude deserves a break. All the best to him and I hope he continues to make content as he feels comfortable in so doing.

In Japan, there are some limits on how much NHI will pay for in a single visit. Usually, you can pay more out-of-pocket to do things in one shot, or you have to go multiple times to accomplish things

I tried Chronometer but there are no japanese foods and they won't add any to their DB so I basically gave up on it :/

I think your premise is flawed or maybe your reference frame is extremely narrow.

As a whole, there's basically never been a better time to be a human. There are fewer conflicts, higher standards of living, amazing medicine, etc. Yes, access to those things and damage to the environment are backsliding, but this is temporary. (Well, everything is temporary to a human if you want to go that route, but that's not what I mean here). The trend line continues to go up, at least for now. The best thing that we can do is try to keep that trendline going up.

Yes, I am angry, I am disappointed, I am heartbroken, I am frustrated, and I am just generally sad at the current wars, erosion of rights, and environmental issues. However, I vote for what I believe in and try to advocate for it where I can. I try to avoid getting trapped in social media bubbles and spend very little time on it (and mostly only here when I do; no facebook or anything here). I try to go outside and raise plants. I am buying a farm where I can grow food, plant more native species, and do a tiny bit to heal at least the land under my feet whilst reducing my carbon footprint. I try to volunteer where I can. I have hobbies that take my mind away from these issues.

I can't control other people. I can fight to convince them of something, but ultimately I cannot control them. Maybe the selfishness and contrarianism of some will destroy us all. If so, then I just know I did what I reasonably could to avoid it.

This is a fantastic game. Definitely grindy by today's standards. I also remember getting it when it came out and how many hours upon hours I sank into it. I would also say using something with savestates and maybe some other strategies to cut some of the grind out.

X-ray vision is horrible for cancer rates (though one could argue that, since it doesn't work like normal x-ray in many comics, that it's some other magic with the name x-ray for convenience).

My left eye has been twitching off and on for more than a week now. I definitely have not enough sleep and too much stress (buying a house is so much fun :cry:)

Schools in Japan only have whole milk (except in cases of students with allergies or the like) and are doing far better on obesity. Whilst I drink milk probably once every few months and could mostly not care if I never had it again, I don't think milk is the right place to look.

potatoes would probably be a better choice nutritionally (with the obvious instruction you can't just fry them all)

11 in my neck of Tokyo. The last few nights have dipped below freezing, however. This probably isn't super weird for the time of year here, however. Going up to visit the inlaws for the end of the year, and it's currently 0 up there. Last year, I think we hit -15 whilst we were there, but this year it looks like the low is going to be freezing (which is rather warm for northeastern Japan in December).

Nah, more of a Kbin fan, but I also have some other forums/BBS sites I go to (and reddit still because the community around life in Japan and such never got going over here, but only those subreddits and nothing else).

Normally, I would roast a chicken (Turkey is expensive and too big for my Japanese oven and Goose is also expensive and I have no experience with it), make dressing, roast some veg, make mashed potatoes and gravy, and probably make something like brownies for dessert. This year, we're going to hang out with friends of the wife, so I'm not sure what the plan is.

I am making oatmeal-chocolate-chip cookies, though, using my grandma's old recipe. I actually put in a bit less sugar today and they turned out more like she used to make, so I'm guessing some things were left out of the recipe. I guess it's also possible that the type of sugar differing is an issue (we don't really have brown sugar that's the exact same here in Japan as in the US, and we also tend not to use granulated sugar in a lot of stuff) as I'd end up with rather flat, crispy cookies rather than the more pillow-y type like I made this morning. Shortening could also differ somehow, I guess, from the Crisco she used.

I play a mix of characters. If they're voiced, I tend to prefer feminine voices. I think there are a number of reasons for this, but one practical one is that I just hear better in a higher range for whatever reason (and this gets more true the older I get). I have a much easier time hearing higher-pitched voices and generally find them more pleasant.

If they're not voiced, it depends upon if I'm role-playing something specific. If so, I'll pick whichever I think fits best. If not, I'll probably pick a female character just because I find them more pleasing to look at. I always wanted to go back and do a female V playthough of Cyberpunk, but I just never got around to it.

Years ago, in the early 2000s, I got in to MMOs with Final Fantasy XI. I played mostly female characters there because people were more likely to help out.

Exclusives suck for everyone. Especially when Epic started out, they only had payment processors in certain countries. This meant that some people literally had no legal way to play the Epic exclusives. I'm not sure where they stand today, but that annoyed me enough, along with other shenanigans by Epic and Sweeny, that I avoid the whole ecosystem.

If you mean the one released in the US, it didn't even come to Japan until the SNES days, IIRC, at which point it was called "Super Mario USA". It was a re-skin and some reprogramming of another Japanese game.

Proof? There are other (some equally creepy) ways that it could get this info. Depending upon how the DVD player is connected, it could simply be getting info from that. It could also be taking occasional screenshots. There are other things as well.
