in the fall of 2002 the windows millennium installation on my computer broke, trapping an entire semester's worth of work on the hard drive and i was a starving college student with less than $20 to my name, so i couldn't afford to buy windows xp and didn't know anyone where i could get a pirate copy from.

i bought a mandrake linux cd pack for $8 from circuit city and used google in the computer laboratory to learn how to mount the hard drive, install drivers for ntfs and copy my all my work to a usb drive and i've been using linux ever since. i switch to 100% only linux both professionally and personally sometime around 2010.

as i mentioned earlier: that content gets ignored on the fediverse, not a single upvote

my idle time is the 10/15 mins between tasks and i retain less than 5% of anything i read within 15 minutes of reading it.

i've seen others try, but the fediverse lacks reddit's niche groups so the content seems to get ignored by the general/generic loving fediverse crowd.

i've run into people who did this and i wished for deodorant every single time.

i bet they would simply change their official head quarters like many did to texas to take advantage of the low corporate taxes.

this is the MO for texas operating procedure and those detriment recipient texans wouldn't have it any other way.

as a san franciscan-california latino who had to live in texas for 5 years, texan latinos are so conservative that they make florida cubano expats looks like communist loving bleeding heart liberals; especially the evangelicals; and nothing will change texas because of that.

not that it matters, i fully expected texas to become a minority controlled apartheid state in all but name eventually and now i know i was right thanks to this article.

anedotally: it works fine if it's from a vendor who provides support for it. eg cumulus switches running fedora 9 but still getting updates from cumulus engineers.

i think that's why the show gives me so much anxiety; it's too believable

plus, potential employers have to find a reason to either hire or not hire you; not having a degree is a reason and it means that you have to impress them so much that, that fact doesn't even occur to them if that's your situation.
