  • It's tragic. But hey- where were the people voting in primaries to oust Liebermann? And Biden and company just passed the biggest climate bill ever. But sure- take your ball and go home. I'm sure things will magically get better by being lazy.

I think the turning point for being mature is when people realize that politics is not about big changes. Maybe they campaign on them but things don't happen like that. It takes a long time even if the answer is obvious. Thinking that all of a sudden the US will dismantle the healthcare and health insurance industries in ONE term of Congress when it underpins a ton of the economy (which includes people's jobs mind you- not just made up crap on the stockmarket) is foolish. It is a leviathan and will take time to eventually get to universal with insurance (ie. public and private) or single payer, etc.

And FWIW, it's easier for Republicans to get what they want because all they want to do is break things. Trying to build something takes time. But again, go off.

  • Yeah, that's kind of how it works.

Do you think the tea party got their fascist takeover in 2010? No, they worked years and years and kept pushing their party further to the right every single time until it finally happened.

Imagine that- you have to put in a couple hours of work at most every year or two for so many years to actually get what you want. Oh how absolutely awful that burden is. /s

  • Presumably because he/she is a person who wants to live somewhere without the hassle of having to own a house and that is impossible without landlords. And they are not the only one like that.

So your idea that all of it is parasitism has met someone, arguably you mean to help, who likes landlords. Because despite what some people think, a lot don't want to sign on the immense debt for a house nor maintain it. Landlords provide a service in that case and why is it your right to deny renters and landlords that service?

That doesn't mean there aren't parasitic landlords because there very much are. But a blanket statement that it's all bad seems foolish. Perhaps nuance is very much lost on people nowadays.

  • Pssh. I mean, I voted. I did my part. Millions others though didn't.

I don't why lemmy people find it so hard to not blame the DNC and actually blame the people who either voted for fascism or did nothing to stop it. Maybe because some of them are the very same as the latter.

  • It makes perfect sense when you realize places like Missouri and Florida voted for abortion rights yet also voted for Republicans and trump all over too.

And again, there's no big magical force keeping progressives out of winning primaries. They just don't. So again, my point, either people aren't that progressive or progressives fucking suck at voting. Either way, same result.

Moreover, we'll use your metric of progressive policies winning over Harris and analyze why she won more over Bernie himself. Must mean people are more moderate right?
