  • My only problem with it is that it's always on the homepage under recommended, despite the fact I've never watched any streams like that. Even if I tell the site "not interested" it still shows the content. I only get on twitch to watch content for one game and from a small number of creators.

  • Dude, thank you, totally agree. Anyone with skin thin enough to be hurt by this kind of corrective force shouldn't even be in the conversation. Not sure why people are offended by this on here but when you engineer critical systems you damn well should know better by now.

  • Honestly, whether or not we agree with the approach of Linus, these kind of disagreements happen in the real world. Tensions run high. Recently I've been on calls where things need to be implemented this month, during a time where most of our resources(engineers) will be on vacation. These kind of conversations can be important to have to make sure this doesn't happen again. The project management team got their ass handed to them for kneeling to the LOBs' ridiculous timeline expectations. And they were told to hold the L if things don't work on the go-live date, there will be no post implementation support until mid January if something doesn't work.

  • Yeah. The writing has fallen off, studios are happy to blow half their budget on VFX and the other half on casting with no focus on the story. Back then, before you pitched a movie, you had to have a story worth telling. Now it's all reskins of the same shit

  • Just throwing in my 2¢ here, your argument is devoid of any logic. You're assuming he knew that those drinks had caffeine, even though the source specifically states the victim intentionally avoided caffeine due to his pre-existing condition. "Charged" isn't a term that is typically used for drinks to indicate they have caffeine. Might as well call it zesty or smoky as neither of those terms imply any potential harm. It was negligent of Panera, most lawyers who have publicly commented or reviewed the claims agree that Panera will be found culpable or settle out of court. Being intentionally dense and abrasive isn't an argument.

  • Thanks ... I totally understand the "didn't get enough beatings" part. I had a hard time until I got into things I liked such as computers, playing instruments, etc. Once I started to work on things that interested me it was magical.

You sound like a very sweet, caring husband. I can tell you love your family dearly. Thanks for your kind words/support

  • Thanks. I have some time off I need to take this month, so I'll try to get that sorted. Haven't found a PCP yet in my area, so I need to start there and hope that they refer me to someone who can see me in a timely manner. I feel like I need to start understanding how my brain works under the hood so I can move towards goals instead of going against the current.

What does it feel like to be on prescription medication? I've heard rhetoric that it's basically meth (not that I know, but that the effects on the brain are similar) without any of the chemicals that give you euphoria. I'm afraid that it will render me a zombie or that I'll lose a sense of identity or the tenacity/creative spark which fuels me. Are those fears irrational? Are those things I should discuss with a counselor?

  • Thanks, that's pretty helpful. I'll save that because there are a lot of useful comments. I feel like my brain is an operating system with a highly powerful processor but it has a defect where it accidentally kills processes.

  • I haven't yet no, but I highly suspect it. And a lot of my teachers in school told my parents I had ADHD/some form of autism but they brushed that off because they thought it meant there was something wrong with me or that they were suggesting I was incapable. Not sure where to start really. Do I go to a primary care doctor who refers me to a specialist? I haven't had health insurance for most of my life, so I'm not sure how this works.

  • I bought a laser printer years ago(Brother brand) and have printed a few hundred pages, I've never had to worry about toner. Ink printers are a total scam and the only reason people buy them is because the initial cost is much cheaper or they don't know the difference between inkjet and laser.

  • If the DNC hadn't shoved Hillary down our throats, Bernie would have certainly won the primary. But on policy the best candidate would have been Andrew Yang.

The DNC would rather lose elections than give us non-establishment politicians.

  • I'd say the American dream exists but the abuse you must take is unimaginable. My family came here with very little and worked horrible minimum wage jobs. I climbed my way up from horrible manual labor jobs, to call center to tech support to engineer. If you have passion and you're dedicated to your craft you'll be well compensated. But it's much more difficult than it should be. For me it took a lot of studying, politicing, and some lost respect for myself. Now I get to complain about my desk job and drink beer at live music bars to forget about work.

  • I have been a network engineer with no degree for many years, but I did have a lot of certs. It'd be nice if there were something similar for programming. But I've never seen anyone care that much about the engineer title. I've always thought it's someone who understands his craft/engine design in and out, but doesn't design it himself. The architect designs it. The tech can perform documented solutions
