  • Honestly, I used to use self deprecating humor a lot, but it does eat away at your own self esteem if your repeat it enough and it can make others feel inadequate as well. One of the qualities I've admired the most in others and that I try to emulate is unapologetically taking responsibility for mistakes or shortcomings. "Wow, I should have caught that. That was silly of me, I'll do better" is a lot better than something like "now I see why I had to ride the short bus" or "I'm such an idiot" .... At the end of the day, no one is perfect, and we shouldn't hold ourselves or others to unachievable standards. We should just always strive to do better.

  • That's one of the reasons why companies will put on a PIP(performance improvement plan) if they want to fire you. They try to get you to sign something saying you understand and acknowledge that your performance needs to improve. They need to have some sort of paper trail in order for them to be able to deny the unemployment claim. A company can't just say "oh yeah that guy sucked" unless there was a substantial, documented issue like you getting into a physical confrontation with someone

  • So you're just babbling on then? You asked me to source my argument and argued it was incorrect while insinuating I'm an incel, yet you provide no source of your own other than your opinion. This is why I don't reply half of the time. You effectively wasted my time. Please don't argue someone else's claims unless you're prepared to offer more than your opinion.

  • Call it whatever you want, I guess but it seems like you're projecting. There's nothing controversial about the idea that women seek security or that men are biologically attracted to young women.

You're asking for a source which is funny because you're the one making the counterargument. I'd expect you to have provided something. I imagine that with your bait insult(incel, lol, I'm married but okay) you're not really looking for an intelligent discussion here. But on the off-chance you are, here you go.

  • I tend to agree with most of what you said but the main reason this is even a thing is that women typically date older men who are already established. Dating in your early 20s is basically impossible because your female counterparts aren't looking for guys that are just starting out or figuring out who they are. Women seek security and sustainability and the 28 year old guy who knows himself and has his own house, good job and car looks far more appealing than the 21 year old who's living with his parents or going to school. I'm not even criticizing women here, it makes sense.

  • I'm convinced you're incorrect. SMTP is an open transport protocol defined in RFC 2821 by the IETF. Anything that is an IP "open protocol" would be defined by IETF as an RFC. No one owns it. No license is required to operate an SMTP server. Same with other common protocols like SIP. It sets qualifications/requirements for what it is so anyone can use it.

RCS is a proprietary standard owned by the GSMA. It seems there is some support for developers that want to use RCS but it's through an API. Meaning your use is licensed and at a cost. Also, you can't really see what it's doing. You're just using an API. Your access can be revoked. So is it an open standard? No.

I did my own research and I plan to try these APIs because I have used other messaging services like twilio for paging applications. But here are some other geeks arguing about it:

  • Honestly, I think the nicest thing you can do for people is to make your point quickly and keep it as short as possible.

    For peers on collaborative issues:

    Hello NJSpradin,

Hope you had an excellent weekend. I'd like to discuss the doohickey problem. I'm leaning towards XYZ, but I'd love to know your thoughts. Let me know when it's most convenient to meet.

    Thanks.

For peers or people that are not doing their job.

    Hello NJSpradin,

As discussed, the delivery of the doohickey proposal is needed ASAP. Please make this your priority and let me know if there's anything you need.

    Thanks.

  • Being on the spectrum and navigating office politics can be a nightmare. I'm not sure why people want everything to be "nice." Now I'm dealing with the opposite problem though. I need to set boundaries and be very opinionated. I've spent 10 years ish dialing it back and now I need to dial it back up.

  • I'm sure if younger people were given a reason to give a shit they'd come out and vote. Even the candidates that are supposed to be more relatable to younger voters(Dems) have tone deaf talking points that revolve around the stock market, unemployment, gas prices, and inflation, none of which are an accurate metric that would define economic opportunity for the youth. Kind of a self fulfilling prophecy.

  • Tell that to the women that go to my gym with their asses hanging out. I mean I'm honestly offended because I'm here to spend time with myself in self-reflection and conditioning but now it's ruined because I'm asking myself all kinds of questions like "how much little validation does she get from life that she needs to do that? And she's looking around, scanning for eyes. She knows wtf she's doing. Women will complain about being sexualized as an object and then do shit like this! If she needs male attention that badly, why here, of all places? Does she not have parents? I'd hate to be this girls father. Then again, there probably isn't a father in her life if she's going out like this. I mean it's not even an aesthetic body! If you have sculpted leg muscles, etc then fine. You've earned the right to show that off. But this chick doesn't even have a noteworthy ass. The only thing noteworthy is that it's outside of her shorts. Why the fuck would you do this to me? I'd still hit it though."
