  • Nice article. But a little bit too wordy and long. They need to shorten this a bit, if this is an initial page trying to make it clear.

  • In the Digital Foundry talks they talked about it. And it makes sense. The Pro was rumored to come out in 2020 or later with tech around that time. But as 2020 was a big year for Switch 1, Nintendo might have changed their direction. Switch 2 has tech that could be from that time and it would make sense, as it is similar to what a Switch Pro would actually be.

Overall its just an idea that makes sense.

  • Wait a minute... I never used Steam Deck with a keyboard. There was no way to activate the menu via the keyboard? If so, how did people do it? Was there a need for always a controller on the side, when using Steam Deck with a keyboard?

  • You should look into Romhacks of the original console games (especially PS1). There are some very interesting mods available: FFT (PSX) and FFTA (GBA) and FFT (PSP)

Now this involves patching original Roms with the Romhack mod files. I do most with Romhack Patcher JS directly in the browser (nothing is uploaded, its total offline and local application in browser).

  • Emulation

RetroArch can be installed directly from Steam store like any other game. It has even Cloud save for save files of games. I use the Beetle PSX core on it, which needs to be installed from within the application itself. Each core can emulator other systems. Now for some people RetroArch is complicated. So its up to you if you want to go that route.

As an alternative, there are emulators or suits of emulators that help with setting everything up. In example RetroDeck or EmuDeck. They need to be installed outside the Steam store, either as a script or as Flatpak I think. I don't use any of them, so cannot help further there.

  • Rewrite in Rust is not harmful.

  • Lol, from the title I thought this would gonna be about Ai and so called "Vibe Coding" (what a dumb term BTW).

  • Only sunshine and roses allowed? For all the Ai hype in the media and lot of people blindly following, its good to see and remind us the shortcomings. As long as it is done properly and honest, I have nothing against a "Pro" and a "Contra" article.

  • What do you mean that you can't choose the tools you want to use? Why do you need to be a developer for the freedom of choice??

  • But that's not really accurate. Past decisions and events have influence in our future too. People can't decide to do everything they want to have. In example there are laws in place to protect us from whatever dumb decision young people may decide to do. Even a president can't do whatever he wants.

Therefore, it's not regardless of its past.

  • I have yet to play, only did the tutorial for quick testing. So I don't speak from personal experience, but from what I read so far.

Its more or less like the Splitgate 1. But they have a new game engine to better support and work on it (that's why its a new entry in series, instead an update). Some people say they don't like the hero abilities they added into. I don't know to what extend this is and how game dependent these are. But one huge plus point to me is a map creator for the community. One of the biggest issues I had in game 1 was that not enough content and maps were available.

On the negative side is, that there is a Battle Pass. At least for me this is negative, but the game is Free to Play. I assume everyone who liked the first game will like this one too, but can't be sure right now. They also seem to have too many players for their servers.

  • Imagine playing Halo, but with the Portals from the game Portal added. They seem to have some abilities like in hero shooter too, but I still have to play the game to know to what degree.

  • Oh, I finally get this argumentation! I've read it before couple of times (also in the comment section of this topic here), but it didn't make sense. But now it clicked. I can definitely see why they keep it simple and straightforward now. And yes, it makes more sense than my theory.

  • Oh I see, it was intentional. I thought to myself "this has no output, there is nothing". Well it makes sense now. :D

  • Where did you got this image from? Knowing its origin could help find the source of the theme, if it is at all an existing theme.

  • I honestly don't understand what you mean by that.

  • Well, I really want to play the game and hope it will work in the future. If I get banned now, then this future would not be possible for me anymore. Even if I can't play it right now, I care about not getting banned in this game. The game plays like Halo, but has Portals, a little bit of hero abilities and a good map creator; perfect!

Edit: BTW I have a Steam Deck and could play it on the device, if nothing else works on PC. So by trying to get around on PC and getting banned would take this away from me too.

  • To me the comments are one of the most interesting things on YouTube. Either on Gaming, Linux or in example on funny video content, with lot of funny comments. I actually use FreeTube client to watch videos anonymously, but go to Firefox and login to YouTube specifically to comment and interact with other users.

  • Actually Vi is not Vim. Vim is a lot user friendly with its documentation. The question is, what you expect and if you learn it properly. Its not unser unfriendly, its just different. It's like saying GIMP is user unfriendly, because you used Photoshop before and GIMP is not exactly the same.

    end of my rant :D
