  • This would actually be a big step for many Android users wanting to try out another OS.

I know for myself that sideloading apps is a must for me on my phone, and if an iPhone could do that, it's at least one step closer for consideration.

  • It's actually better than that.

"Obligation to repair goods to which reparability requirements under Union legal acts apply. The producers will be obliged to repair outside the legal guarantee. They can repair for a price or for free as part of a commercial guarantee. Examples of product groups currently covered: household washing machines, household dishwashers, refrigerating appliances and vacuum cleaners. More products will be added in the coming years, starting with smartphones and tablets."

    Source from EU's own website.

  • The S5 is from 2014 which this year makes 10 years.

Pons_Aelius says: "the device is practically unusable after that, even if it's still working."

You say: "Not if you can change the battery"

AND THEN YOU GO ON to tell that your 10 year old phone is working but practically unusable, confirming in the most spectacular way, that Pons was right all along, even matching your very own experience to the point and date! And you still started your argument against it.

    It's amazing really. Bravisimo.

  • Also, Meta actually had the rewrite their new Threads app for EU, because the US version was so invasive, that they needed to adjust it.

The US still has the invasive version, like the rest of the world. Only EU gets the "better" one.

  • I think it's because the general public would expect a big company to come and fix it, like Microsoft. They feel safe because it's a well known OS that everyone uses. So it can't be unsafe, right? Right?

With Linux you're fucked if you have no computer knowledge, like most people. That's the general thinking.
