  • I assume you've worked it out by now but you do not need a second account! Unless you want to move off .world to something smaller and less laggy ofc which I would definitely understand šŸ˜…

  • It's like trying to choose a favourite child!

    ...oh wait.

  • I've not created any communities myself, but looking at the form it seems pretty straightforward. Is there a particular field that could be better explained, or are you getting some sort of error?

  • Would it be too dramatic to say it's changed my life?

  • If you're viewing a community through an instance that isn't the one it's actually hosted on, you'll see a lower subscriber count because as far as I'm aware it's showing the number of subscribers from the instance you're viewing it on rather than the total.

  • Just to add to the other reply, if there's an old comment chain you really want to reply to you can grab the URL of the last comment, search for it through your home instance and that'll force an index of the comment you searched for plus any parents.

  • Which bit are you struggling with? Would be useful to know how it's looking from a newbie perspective so we can make our explanations more effective. Also, welcome! šŸ˜„

  • We'll soon find out based on how many times we have to copy paste an explanation of how community search works to confused new Lemmings šŸ˜„

  • I code in a few languages and I've always wanted to know more than one "human" language but efforts in that area have more or less consistently failed (exception being Esperanto because that's easy, but since hardly anyone speaks it it's not exactly useful).

Despite my interest in both I doubt there's much of a correlation when you look at programmers (or polyglots) as a group, though. For all we call all of these things "languages" there's a pretty big distinction and difference in complexity and approach between the computer and human ones, it's a whole different hobby.

I'd compare coding more to other hobbies that involve making things. I knit a jumper, I develop a video game...scratches same itch.

Or possibly problem-solving hobbies. I work out how to adjust a sewing pattern to fit, I solve a tricksy sudoku...again same itch.

  • Thanks for this, largely common sense but it's always good to have things explicitly written down to refer people to when needed. Sounds like a sensible approach!

  • It's just a bug with the way the software was coded, but there's a currently rolling out update that fixes it. Hopefully our glorious lemm.ee admin will be able to upgrade us to a new version soon. Hang tight :)

  • Since OP is pulling a Gandalf and keeping his secrets, maybe you'd care to share how you found yourself in such a no-shit scenario?

  • Kids these days, amirite...

  • My actual heart. I cannot 😭

  • It's great for playing slower paced games, not so great for shooters etc, anything that really relies on the fast accuracy of a mouse (at least in handheld which is all I use mine for). A good way to start working through the backlog of cozy indie freebies we've all been pointlessly gathering from Epic.

Big downside for me is the size and weight, I'm a woman with stereotypically slender hands and this thing was definitely designed for someone with a slightly longer reach.

  • What size image? lemm.ee has a 100kb limit I believe.
