  • It's honestly not unrealistic though, I've used Linux for over 3 years as a daily driver for IT, software dev, and gaming. Only thing it struggled with with was gaming. I'm really not sure how you had so much trouble getting RDP to work, it was never that tiresome when I set it up. Linux does work out of the box on a wide variety of machines and it is gaining in popularity and ease of use. It does have limitations but they are quickly fading. Even then, from my experiences windows has more limitations. Windows can't even use any file systems other than NTFS without WSL besides the most basic like FAT. It costs money to use and has meager customization at best. It's bloated and barley runs on anything short for 8 GB of ram these days. It refuses to allow you to even have the slightest bit of privacy. That's probably the biggest reason to switch. RDP does work great on windows. It's their proprietary protocol. What else would you expect. Windows may be more "plug n play" but Linux just has more options for alot of thing and has more flexibility. It's way more versatile as an os. If your looking for something plug n play just stick with Ubuntu

  • Patterns in text are ideas, that's what text is made to contain, Ideas. They've made a algorithm that "generates text that sounds human" but it didn't understand context, themes, or other more abstract concepts. There is a highly sophisticated amount of emergent behavior from LLMs

  • If I stuck you on a black box with and removed every single one of your senses, took away your ability to memorize things I don't really think you'd generate new ideas either. Human creativity relies heavily on output from the outside world. LLMs are not human like intelligence but do exhibit pretty amazing emergent behavior. LLMs are more sophisticated than you think. Human like AI has to be possible unless there is something intrinsically different about the human brain that breaks our current understanding of the world. Barring a "soul", the human brain has to be nothing but calculations taking place in a chemical medium. Meaning that human like AI or even better must be achievable.

  • There isn't going to be a search engine without some type of ai or content agitation tool. Key word search is not enough to make one of these work. Search engines need to sort through millions of web pages, and try to give you the best match for what your looking for via smart algorithms. With Google these algorithms are designed to sell you products and get the most clicks out of you. Kagis profit incentive is to curate good links for your search results. Indie results will always be low on the ranks thats why they are indie. As they get more popular so so their search results. You don't want your search engine feeding you only new and up and coming shit. You want the most relevant search results. Sometimes it's going to take some digging to find what your looking for. UNLESS you want to give up mountains of your data to and hope that the company uses it to serve your interest instead of feed you sponsored bullshit.
