i think you're right, but I think they're kind of just facing reality. Games cost too much to make, and they aren't making enough on hardware sales to justify exclusivity. Although, I think the door is still open for them to stay in the console space, and maybe even overtake Sony in the next gen if some weird stuff happens between now and then. More likely, I think they just become another Sega like you said, except they still sell a small batch of hardware on the side, for people that want a Game Pass console.

i heard very similar remarks on Jeff Gerstmann's podcast on Tuesday. He's an old GameSpot/Giant Bomb dude. Sorry if my original reply came off as snarky in any way, reading back i can see how maybe it comes off like i'm accusing your response of being not your own.

Technically they just announced the 9070 and the 9070 XT, so there are two different designs that could be considered part of the "9070-series". They could also be saying "series" because most of the 9070s on the market will be AIB boards with slightly different feature sets.

TL;DR: the climate is about the become the biggest political issue the globe over. But not in the way you think: massive surges of climate migrants will ratchet up immigrant politics and refugee crises, both in Europe and the US. The US "border crisis" is escalating because of farmers migrating from drought-stricken regions of central America. Places where many people currently live within the US will become uninsurable. Migration within the US will dramatically change the political makeup of different states. As the right comes to power in the US, you may see Trump using climate emergency relief funds as a cudgel to coerce liberal states and cities to follow his whims.

sure, but what is 404 Media supposed to do about that? If they stopped sharing their stories on these services, they would have no way to reach new audiences, and so they would slowly start dying off. You could argue that a larger publication like NYT could certainly take a stand like this, but traditional media isn't exactly in a strong position right now. Decentralized platforms are useless to these publications if nobody is using them.

tbh it's where i get a lot of my memes. there are still a lot of good pages and groups run by funny people. generally i view it as bad for me in the same way it's always been bad for me, too much easy dopamine or whatever. Misinformation is out there and censorship is out there, but that's why i don't rely on FB for news.

i mean, they are on Facebook too. If you are a journalist or a publication, you have to go to where the people are to spread the word about your articles, even if the people are on a platform you do not like. I've had mixed feelings about this lately with regards to X (a neo-nazi platform) and artists that continue to use that platform. But at the end of the day, unless you are a large organization with lots of influence, you need to be on social media to survive.

the article is mostly reporting on "a Q&A on the InstalBase forums" with "business journalist Christopher Dring". The headline kind of makes the 80% figure sound like a bad thing, but I think it's more meant to share info with the public that industry insiders already know about. No producer working at EA is shocked by this figure, but the headline is not for them. This info is still helpful for many groups, like maybe new devs who aren't yet industry insiders, but need to know what they are getting into before they sign a shitty Game Pass deal with Microsoft.

you're definitely on to something. I think they got scared by the surge of unions and strikes post-COVID, and now they're trying to push us into a recession to make us desparate again.

i have mad respect for them. I play similar stuff like Genshin so my F2P time is all eaten up, but I love that Warframe continues to do whatever the f they want.
