Easy fix: Don't be on threads.

Currently 23h and 51 minutes. However I regularly switche between operating systems (macOS, win10), so it usually doesn't get that high.

By only using carbon neutral energy in their manufacturing? Car companies are really not special in that regard.

I'm not saying that's going to happen and that they aren't posturing. But like there is no fundamental mystery to the "how".

You're technicall still using the company's resources (it costs some energy to run the empty train), so I still don't think it really compares to piracy.

But since they are miniscule compared to what they are wasting by running largley empty trains I think it's morally ok in that case.

In that case you're actually using a limited resource: space on a train. And by occupying it you're preventing someone else from using it (assuming a full train). Copying media doesn't cost any resources (ignoring the tiny amounts of electricity) or interfere with anyone else's ability to use that resource.

Probably none, so even if they wouldn't fuck around with them, the accidents due to lack of maintainance would be terrible already.

Autolinking behaviour depends on the apps you’re using. Plenty of apps autolink .world, the app I’m using doesn’t autolink anything at all.

I'm just using the default web interface and I don't think the link generation is from my browser. I think it's on the side of lemmy, but I could be wrong. Using any mobile app could easily overwrite that behaviour though.

I think that just means the devs haven’t bothered to update their TLD lists in a while.

Yep, someone else also suggested that. Might be that or see my reply to that for futher thoughts.

Could also be the case, but there is like 1600 TLDs these days, ranging from foo.accountants to bar.walmart (just testing if they autolink, I don't think they will. edit: they didn't).

Maybe at somepoint it makes sense to exclude some of the more common terms to avoid accidental linking by people that don't use spaces after punctuation (I hate them). But could also just be an up-to-date issue, I'm just speculating.
