You can believe in what scientists say with no understanding what so ever.

What the hell is a "campus gynecologist"?

Is that some US healthcare shenanigan because students can't go to regular doctors for some reason?

What happens in 10 years?

There are bike lanes in the US?

An attention-deficit makes you perform worse at a task that requires attention?

These scientists must have some great out of the box thinking to have pieced together this one.

If you’ve ever talked to women in tech, they’ll tell you how badly they were treated by male students and sometimes even by teachers, trying to get them to wash out.

I'm from Germany and after graduating from highschool, if you have sufficent grades you can choose to take another 3 years of school for a better diploma. These extra 3 years are often specialised for some topics, for example IT.

Now, there are no IT lessons in regular highschool. We did learn how to type, but that was about it. So there is really no way that women could have "pushed out" of IT in anyway, because it was never a subject.

Yet, of the roughly 120 studends that signed up for IT school, there were about 7 women.

Seems like there must be some other reason, because they definitly weren't pushed out by other students or teachers.

I haven't watched any movie in theaters in decades. Theaters suck.

Just because you cannot empirically measure something (at least at the moment), doesn’t mean it can’t be true.

I agree. However this is a very bad basis to start from if you want to find an actual truth. There is millions of ideas that were dreamed up by people that can't be empirically denied or confirmed, including all the gods.

Take consciousness, for example

I think that is a great example. Because if we understood consciousness, we'd probably also understand how we come up with ideas, like morality.

That's really the bigger point. Morality is an idea. It's like countries. We divide up the planet into sections on a map we made up and agree that those now exist. Then we build stuff along the border to make it exist. But there is no "true" or "correct" way to divide the planet into countries and nations. It's just a process that happens as an emergent property of a civilisation.

Just like consciousness is an emergent property of the brain. So ultimatly if you find out anything about how morality comes to exist, studying the brain is a good start.

But I doubt we'll ever find any objective moral truths, because we made up the entire concept.

Why not? He might be an asshole, but he's a damn good actor.
