  • I'm guessing, per the article, that as long as you're not exposing telnet/ssh directly, you should be ok? If you're doing that already, why? I could see having some iot device that isn't properly segmented from the rest of your lan already problematic, and something like this would be a concern.

  • I guess. I tried everything within reason to play it. VLC, mpv, windows media player etc. all with various degrees of failure. Even went down a rabbit hole of trying codecs from websites that looked frozen in time from the late 90's, as it was an old cam system.

  • Happened to me a few months ago. Had a ticket for our District Attorney office, trying to playback a security camera footage from a parking lot or something. It would open, but, the person that was supposed to be seen would show up for a few frames and glitch out.

Turns out the cam system it came from uses some very proprietary codec. So the footage was effectively useless without their special sauce player/codec

  • For me it's mostly two major reasons: Security and ease of use.

I don't leave Bluetooth turned on unless I actively need it.

And wireless headphones are just one more thing to charge. I've tried them. It ended up more of a hassle than just..plugging in a wire.

  • Had to lookup the r1t. It's not for me. I think this is a case of subjective taste. It's not bad looking, but it's too...soft to me. It's the harder lines and the strange silhouette the CT has. Guess its why I'm also partial to older vehicles too, look wise.

  • Not always. It's largely going to depend on the game. GE is a tweaked version fork. I've had some games run fine with either version. But I've also had a mix of some running better with GE, some without.

I forget the name, but there's a GUI tool now (check your package manger) that makes the setup really easy. Though the manual setup is about as complicated as creating a folder and pasting the GE file in it and restart steam.
