  • Not sure what you need to get approved. Buying a roll of ASA? It's part of printer maintenance, and making it more reliable in the long run.

    And if you don't have ABS/ASA on hand... why is the printer in an enclosure?

  • It's the PETG. Specifically, it is the softening on the following parts:

    • y-belt-holder-R2
    • y-belt-holder-tensioner-R2
    • x-end-motor-R2
    • x-end-idler-R2

    I would recommend the following Y-axis mod for the MK4. I am still running this even on the MK4S, even though the Y-axis was modified on the MK4S.

    Edit: Print those in ASA and replace them, tighten all the belts as usual, and I think your printer will be fixed.

  • My money is on the PETG starting to loosen and you losing tension on the belts.

    You have the MK4 in an enclosure--I did too. At some point I stopped being able to print flexibles, but ASA/PCCF was still fine. Prusa support told me that the idler was getting loose and my hotend was losing grip on the fillament.

    I had another print where there was a nearly 2-3cm shift in the layers between layer 5 and layer 80. Some of my belts had absolutely lost the plot. I reprinted everything in ASA or PCCF, and while upgrading to the MK4S rebuilt the printer with all ASA/PCCF parts. No problems since.

  • I'm someone who builds cloud infrastructure for a living. I only touch AWS (Amazon), but the same applies to Azure (Microsoft) and GCP (Google).

    Kagi is private. Saying that they "rely" on Google because they use GCP is akin to saying that the US Army relies on General Motors because they use Hummers. It's just a provider. They're renting virtual machines, compute power, storage, and network bandwidth nothing more. You can use GCP/Azure/AWS without your data ever being visible by GCP/Azure/AWS. It's not because you use GCP that you have to use AdSense/Analytics/Fonts, etc. They are completely separate.

    Politicians would have a field day with all the cloud providers if using one thing forced you to use everything.

  • It could be a case of too much cooling, while simultaneously being too much heat.

    If you’re blowing so much air that the filament instantly solidifies when it leaves the nozzle, it’s not going to bond with anything else. It’s also interesting that the first layers are fine (when the part cooling fan is typically not running), but problems start when the part cooling fan turns on.

    Have you tried without part cooling at all? Another thing is that your part cooling might be cooling down the tip of the nozzle, causing tiny partial clogs, which are cleared every so often by friction.

  • Did you notice a difference in print speed when you slowed down? As this is a small print, it could already be as slow as it will be due to minimum layer times.

    It could also be that the nozzle spends too much close to the print. What happens if you print 2 or 3 of them?

    This is typically more of an issue with PC where you don’t have a part cooling fan running, but maybe it’s the case here too?

  • You didn't get laid off because you discussed your wages.

    You were laid off because you couldn't keep your cards close to your chest and told the company y'all had been discussing wages.

    Having the right to discuss it doesn't mean you should do it in front of the boss.

  • In Denmark, I'm part of a union which publishes salary stats for every possible job title, management responsibility, education, in a fairly convoluted matrix. Still, this allows me to easily negotiate with companies and see how well they pay. There might be something organised by the government, but I've never had a need for it.

  • You cannot prevent your employees from discussing wages. It is literally illegal to do so, and you cannot reprimand people for doing so.

    Under the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA or the Act), employees have the right to communicate with their coworkers about their wages, as well as with labor organizations, worker centers, the media, and the public. Wages are a vital term and condition of employment, and discussions of wages are often preliminary to organizing or other actions for mutual aid or protection.

    If you are an employee covered by the Act, you may discuss wages in face-to-face conversations, over the phone, and in written messages. Policies that specifically prohibit the discussion of wages are unlawful as are policies that chill employees from discussing their wages.

    You may have discussions about wages when not at work, when you are on break, and even during work if employees are permitted to have other non-work conversations. You have these rights whether or not you are represented by a union.

  • I would model the part myself, print it myself and check for fit and function. Once the part design and tolerances confirmed, I would then either use a local or remote shop.

    Xometry.eu (no affiliation, never used them) appears to be in Europe and outsources to local shops. They have plastic and metal SLS, CNC, sheet metal, and everything else as possibilities. https://xometry.eu/en/direct-metal-laser-sintering/

  • Had this happen to me as well this week after a few months of not using Fusion 360.

    Turns out it’s a software update issue. Just close the app every time it fails, and eventually it will manage to update. I have an insanely fast internet connection, so maybe you need to keep it open for a while to download the updates.

    C'est dingue que ce genre d'engin soit autorisé sur les pistes cyclables. Ce qui me trouble encore plus (en tant que motard) c'est que j'imagine que les utilisateurs n'ont pas d'obligation de porter des vêtements protecteurs outre peut-être un casque?

    À 45km/h, le macadam fait de sacrés dégats sur la peau. Je connais une personne à qui il manque un orteil ou deux car il voulait nous montrer son dernier stunt... en claquettes.

  • La plupart des personnes dans mon entourage qui ont claqué 50k€ dans une voiture m'en disent de bonnes choses. Bizarre ça. P'tet que c'est comme avec le vin à plus de 1000€; on a besoin de sentir une différence afin de justifier le prix.

    Ceci étant dit, les chutes d'autonomies sont réelles. Même une BMW i3 annonce 350km au départ et tombe à 130km au bout de 20 minutes d'autoroute à 3-4°. Je peux facilement faire 80-90km (en ville) avec ma plug-in hybrid en été, mais ne dépasserai jamais les 30-40km en hiver. Garzak a donc moins de 4-5 mois d'expérience avec son véhicule–pas vraiment un avis long terme.

    J'avais bon espoir pour Tesla, et je suis content à quel point ils ont montrés que l'électrique fait sens dans la vrai vie. Je suis convaincu que sans Tesla, je n'aurais pas de véhicule électrique aujourd'hui.

    Mon problème avec Tesla–outre les histoire qui apparaissent aujourd'hui–c'est cette attitude start-up. "On est capable de produire des véhicules plus performants, plus rapides, et moins chers que les vieilles entreprises." Et certes, les premières Model S étaient des voitures magnifiques. Maintenant, la qualité est vraiment tombée, et on commence à se rendre compte que les entreprises qui ont une centaines d'années d'expérience dans le fait de créer des véhicules à échelle planétaire, bah finallement, elles s'y connaissent un p'ti peu. (Par rapport à la qualité, je parle principalement des problèmes d'alignement de la carrosserie; les moteurs et la mécanique semblent tenir la route).

    Maintenant que Tesla a montré la viabilité du cran économique, VW, Toyota, Mercedes et Ford vont prendre le relais. D'un côté je suis triste pour Tesla, car le fanboi en moi d'il y a 15 ans voulait un Roadster à tout prix. D'un autre côté, je suis content, car plus de concurrence = meilleurs tarifs et produits pour nous les consommateurs.

    Bordel, on va se retrouver avec 45 prises différentes, et l'UE forcera tout le monde à utiliser un standard inutile dans 15 ans, comme avec micro-USB et USB-C.
