Thanks for this post. I've been roasting during covid as I couldn't find proper roasted beans, but never knew it could be carcinogenic. I've reverted back to roasted beans as it was just too time consuming and inconsistent, even with a cheap coffee roaster.

There's one downside I've experienced. I don't enjoy driving in ICEs anymore, too noisy and variable traction :)

Thanks for your reply! Yes, you're right, my message conflicts. What I meant to say was that in bed rooms it can be 60+% and that's fine. The recommended temp for bed rooms is 16c and if it's 100%@11c outside it's almost impossible to get it below 60% @ 16c.

Sonoff Zigbee ones. Batteries should last a year.

Xbox owner here. I love the xbox for gamepass, have been subscribed for years. Think I also prefer the xbox controller. I miss some of the exclusives of PS5.

But it's very much an opinion I believe. I totally understand if people buy a PS5.

Pretty standard here in NZ too. As a Dutch guy I would never ever cycle there. Cycles don't belong on a motorway.

I agree it could be better. But there's nothing I can do about it so I've learnt to not get upset by such things. I can't get upset by everything.

I agree it's not nice, some phones are abandoned within a year or two.

I believe the CB will just stop receiving updates, it will still work. Over time there may come issues due to missing updates.

Not sure why everyone is so upset. This is nothing new. Has been happening for years with phones and tablets. They get at least 5 years of updates, which I think is pretty good. My kids have had the same CBs at their schools for 6 years and still going strong. Some of my laptops don't last that long.

Yeah that's quite complicated as e.g. Family Link (which we use on their Android devices) doesn't have an API.

1. Input boolean per child "Device in use"
2. platform_history sensor to track how long it was on in a week.
3. I've installed the Home Assistant app on their devices, whenever it turns on for more than a minute, it turns on the boolean input.
4. They also play on the xbox together during the day. Whenever the xbox turns on, and they log out my account, it also triggers an automation to turn on both switches.
5. Input helper with weekly device limit (time)
6. template sensors that calculate the time left
7. Switch can be manually turned on/off via our Home Assistant tablet in the living room, which also displays the remaining time etc.

It's very custom and sometimes buggy, e.g. this morning the xbox sensor suddenly become "On" despite the xbox being turned off. So I've also added some custom helpers to be able to decrease/increase the usage for that week if something had gone bonkers.

Great to hear you're thinking about it! Some tips, it may be cheaper for you to buy online and get it shipped. We're in Wellington and it was cheaper to get one from Christchurch than to buy locally.

Also ensure you get one with a proper nz charging cable and the dash converted to English.

I'm on the latest Kodi v20. Just after installing Seren, which was already problematic due to Failed Dependency errors I had to resolve manually, I got random bsod (with the sad smiley) Today got another bsod so I now think the hardware is just dying.

Kodi is just a pita for many things. I'm tech savvy but it's just too complicated to eg get ad free YouTube (which is flaky at best), or Realdebrid via Seren. It works perfectly for videos from my NAS.

Thanks for the insights. Wi-Fi ap is in the same room as the TV, so that should be fine. Think usb adapter will be plan B. Thanks again for the details. Lemmy is great.

How would you detect that? If the load goes to zero was my initial thought but it can also be pausing during the program when that happens.
