Sure, you can say "man" means "mankind", but when you use gendered language like that, most people picture a couple of caveMEN sitting around a fire carving bones rather than caveHUMANS (edited -- I think it would benefit us to picture all genders around this hypothetical fire). Even though we try to use gendered language in a neutral way, listeners will often perceive the language in a gendered way.

Yes, I torrent Linux ISOs for any version or distro I want to install, and then I seed them until I download an updated version of whichever distro (and occasionally I'll clean up old ones if I stopped using that distro but the version I have is ancient).

But of course when we talk about torrenting in public forums, it's funny to only mention all the Linux distros we are torrenting and remaining hush-hush about other things we may be sharing.

Honestly, I just self-host. I download my ebooks, use Calibre to clean them, convert them to my favorite format (ePub), and tag the shit out of them with metadata. My Calibre library lives in a folder that gets synced to all my devices (I'm currently using a commercial cloud storage platform from one of the big providers, but working on spinning up a Nextcloud instance). Then I just open my ebooks in Moon+ Reader Pro on my phone and read away.

So would you now agree with the original comment that said Wikipedia is not a reliable SOURCE of accurate information? It's a great starting point and a potential resource that can be used as a bibliography of possible sources, but it's never a good source itself. Even as a bibliography, you have to consider whether the available references for an article are biased -- they don't always paint a fair picture.

Every Rule post, including this one, provides clues to the nature of the underlying RULE. Once somebody actually figures out what the RULE actually is, it is posited that the fediverse will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

I think that's a cool idea, but I don't like it for unixporn. I always feel the *porn communities are just what you're seeing -- people sharing their pretty thing. Maybe they give details, maybe not. Maybe they interact and chat with the community, maybe not.

I also looked at Excalidraw, which while being web app, runs reasonably well on Android. But some of the functions either don't work at all or I'm doing something wrong. I was able to import a photo and trace it, but couldn't find a way to export just the trace outline.

After you trace the photo, can't you delete the photo from the canvas and just save as SVG? Won't it save just the trace if that's all there is?

The democratic party in my state puts money and campaign assistance behind smaller local races (congressional, state legislature, and small local races) based on primary numbers. My county has about 0.7x dem primary voters vs. our rep primary voters. As we're finally turning blue enough that we might win a race here and there, we're getting a lot more assistance from the larger dem strongholds in the state. My congressional rep is doing more events in my county instead of focusing on the bigger cities in their district. It's all a snowball effect. More engagement by dems in the primaries means more focus on campaigns in my area means bigger dem voter turnout in my area, and the cycle builds upon itself. If I vote republican in the primaries to be a spoiler, the dem party just sees my county shifting further right. Plus, my primary vote actually helps decide on my dem candidates in my region. It's a whole lot more than just one office.

Also to be fair to this idea, the quality of human moderators on Reddit is drastically worse than it was several years ago.

Is the open driver more stable in Wayland now? 535, I couldn't use Wayland at all. 545, the open driver was still giving me all kinds of problems, but proprietary driver was flawless. Just upgraded and nothing broke, so I guess I'll try flipping back to open again and giving it a try, but the point of the proprietary driver has been stability, at least for some of us. [Arch/Wayland/hyprland/rtx3060]

I've never had an issue with y'all and "dude/dudes" in gender neutral ways. They're the natural words I grew up with. On rare occasions, somebody doesn't prefer "dude" and I'll use different terms for them and around them.

In professional settings such as work email, I tend to use the more formal gender-neutral terms like "people" and "everybody" and "they/them", but I'm also in a region where "y'all" is accepted in formal conversation, so I often use that.

Or if you're near Pittsburgh, "yinz" is the proper spelling/pronunciation.
