  • What's your point? Are you advocating for increased rape here? What problem needs to be addressed? Kids watching porn? My kids don't. I don't know what this post has to do with that, but the Texas government isn't protecting my kids here.

  • Well, yes, it was something beautiful and amazing and we all loved it very dearly, or we wouldn't be so passionate about what management has done to it and continues to do to it.

  • This person was not a Samaritan, a proper noun meaning a person from Samaria. This person was a samaritan, "one who is compassionate or helpful to a person in distress", a common English noun derived from the story of the good Samaritan that you are referencing. When we use the word samaritan, we are specifically trying to evoke the idea of that one good Samaritan. So yes, your point is technically correct, but not relevant.

  • Just bite the bullet and move to the best fit. I jumped from spotify to ytm and I lost some features that I loved, but gained others.

Trust, though? Neither. They're both terrible companies, but I am currently living in southeast Asia working for an American company, so it's nice to pay $4 usd worth of local currency for a full youtube premium family membership. I know Google is spying on all the media I watch, but it's convenient as heck to let my kid watch their YouTube channels with no ads and I get good music out of it.

  • Democrat-leaning states are already working towards that.. The idea is that if they have 270 electoral votes worth of states signed up, they will all agree to change their electoral delegates to follow the national popular vote, effectively ending the electoral college. It's not really a democratic push, but it's an idea that would only be popular with the party that aligns with the national majority. They currently have 205 EVs committed.

  • This! I'm voting in 5 different elections this year!

We had a special election to fill a vacated mayoral seat (only 10% of registered voters showed up) and then the recent primary. In May, we have a local election for city council and school board seats and also a separate run-off primary election. And then of course the general election in November.

  • I stand with Palestine, and I'll be voting in the US. Yes, I'm voting for Biden as the lesser of two evils, but I'm also voting for a whole lot of other really good people who are going up against some truly evil people. I've got people attacking my schools and libraries at the local level. Not voting to spite Biden will hurt my town a whole lot more than it would hurt Biden.

  • Decimation was a practice of group punishment in Roman times, where if a group of 100 soldiers deserted, you might punish them by forcing them to kill 1 in 10 of their rank. 1 in 10 would be beaten to death by the other 9. Nowadays, we use decimate to mean a significant loss in general, but the root Latin "decimatio" literally meant "removal of a tenth".
