Humans benefit from society. You can't have society if people go around destroying that society. You make rules and enforce them to stop that destruction. Thats morality in a nutshell.
This has been going on so long that it's hard wired into most of us. For the psychopaths that don't have that hardwire, we have places to put them. I.e. prisons and boardrooms.
I think that a good chunk of the selfhosted community is "sole IT guy at a tiny company". This is great for that, since having to update desktop software in twenty places sucks.
Look. I don't mind if you're straight. I have a bunch of straight friends. But it's not appropriate to indoctrinate children to your "lifestyle". Stop shoving this down my throat.
I'm arguing that there IS clear evidence otherwise. The fact that they're not acting in a way that is consistent with the belief that life begins at conception is a problem. And saying that they don't understand their own belief is much nicer than saying that they're horrible people who let death happen when they could have stopped it.
And I think the point of these discussions is to exactly fix your final point. To iron out the inconsistencies and find the truth.
They don't believe that. They think they believe that, but they don't. The frozen embryo in the fire question proves this. The fact that they aren't actively killing abortion doctors proves this.
No, that phrase means "this situation is hopeless because the person is incapable of change". You can't turn a fly into a butterfly, no matter how hard you try.
The US can create a law saying "you can only deport people to their home country". And if the home country doesn't allow that, don't fucking deport them.
It's basic empathy.
Otherwise, let's just all deport them all to Antarctica. It would save a lot of money on logistics, if we're willing to not give a fuck.
We could easily, and should, implement a law saying that people must be deported back to their own country. It just means fewer people would be deported.
There's an app for that!
