  • Even on the middle east eye YouTube I'm seeing so many appeals to authority and "it's illegal, simple as. Full stop. Not for debate".

Not sure if brigading or what but it really worries me how people think.

It's not like they're stupid, it's like it's uncomfortable for them to think.

  • Every time I make a tool like this, I try to wind up any Americans in the company by putting the US flag as English (simplified) and the Union Jack as English

It's a fun back and forth we have switching it between the two (inevitably someone makes a PR to put it back, and we go on)

  • They may have been mentioned/featured in things that last longer than the bows. Statues, pottery, writing on stone tablets.

Also I think they find skeletons with flint arrowheads in them sometimes too.

So it can be pieced together from lots of small, even partial data points.

But we find new stuff all the time that changes what we thought.

They found a 4000 year old bagless vacuum cleaner the other day.

That last one was a joke.

  • My local library has been getting refurbished for a couple of months.

It's really thrown off my ability to do paperwork, as they were the only people around with a working printer.

I actually had to fix the printer at work. Horrible stuff.

  • If they only get to use their toys in specific cases, they'll pretend it's always that case.

Right now the key words are "insurrectionist" and "terrorist" and "illegals". They say the keyword, they suddenly get the loopholes.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say they suspected "illicit" materials just so they could gear up for their hero LARP.

  • I'm hoping they make a desktop version but I've been testing Linux mint on all the games I can download and I'm pretty sure it's running better than my win10 boot.

So the fact that the other distros are an option that's relatively accessible makes me think there's less value to valve releasing the desktop version any time soon.

  • Came to Lemmy while my disk manager is processing my new partition.

If it goes well, I'm switching today.

So, probably some time early tomorrow morning. Because I'm not great with reading instructions.

Edit: it's still processing. It feels like it shouldn't take this long to partition...

  • When the voice assistant came out I remember one of my coworkers showing it off to another.

To which the other coworker just said "hey Google, text Mom saying 'you're fat'".

Because of that I've never had any voice tools connected to anything I own.

  • Looking at the comments, it occurs to me that we're not a representative section of the online community.

Were literally people who went out of their way to not use a conventional/commercial tech product.

I wonder what the % of people on here is who have built a pc, used a raspberry pi or installed Linux compared to the outside world.
