  • For me there are two things that makes me reject all self checkout. Most importantly, it is taking people's jobs and making me do the labour for no discount, companies only offer them because it pads their profits. Second, the user experience is almost universally terrible. I don't want to take the risk just to get pissed off.

  • At least in my experience, if a skip level is contacting you about feedback they normally know something isn't right and want to gather examples. Just give objective feedback with specific examples of when you have seen it.

  • Yes, also Lithium Manganese Spinel cells have been around since 1996 and also don't contain any nickel and cobalt. This is good but many vehicles and devices still use NMC and NCA due to the better specific energy density which is where LFP is limited (but can output more power and is much safer). Tesla (and every EV manufacturer) compromises on the battery depending on what chemistry they use, where if they could reduce the need for expensive metals while maintaining specific energy it would be pretty newsworthy.

  • I think we are quite a long time from 6E becoming congested. The equpiment is just too expensive right now (nevermind the price of Wifi 7 equipment). In my pretty densely populated area I have zero other 6GHz networks visible from my place.

  • I just don't get how all of these "Smart" devices continue to get stupider. Why are they removing existing features or making them worse to use?

It's gotten to the point where I'm currently working on a project to roll my own dumb smart display and speakers with a RPi, Magic Mirror, and a DAC/amp hat.

  • Its all bullshit for maximising ARPU. Public Mobile exists for users that are price conscious but you don't get any international roaming. Koodo is the step up for people that need roaming (if only SMS 2FA wasn't a thing). Then moving up to Telus is for people who don't know any better or don't give a shit about price.

  • Does this include people that just use their Starbucks cards for frequent purchases? I always have up to $25 on my card for the one or two times a week I get something. That is just money I haven't spent yet, and I'm fully aware that I could just use it up if I stopped going to Starbucks.
