Brings up memories of the South Park episode of the CIA or FBI where the boys found out the organization was trying to project themselves to be more powerful than they actually are, and intentionally wanting people to believe scary rumors about them.

He could eat a baby in front of them and they'd go from being shocked to figuring out how it was justified. I don't think anything can shatter the hold he has over his cult followers at this point.

That medium article that keeps being reposted from some random user with only that one article intentionally omits this work history after the FTC too.

Yeah I looked further into the article and it indeed does not seem to paint the entire picture. Especially with the omission that after leaving the FTC, Gail Slater became vice-president for legal and regulatory policy for the Internet Association which is a lobbying group for companies like Google, Amazon, eBay, and Facebook.

And The Internet Association had been covered by EFF before highlighting some things they didn't agree with.

So medium article just glossing over who Gail started working for after leaving the FTC makes the omission a sign of incompetence or intentional with the knowledge it might weaken their argument. And who even is ovenplayer? We got no idea who this random person is so not covering the whole details makes me wonder why this medium article keeps being posted. Rather funny actually that the Trump tweet provided in the medium article omits this part too.

Already well aware of the CDU and AFD. As long as nobody forms a coalition with the AFD not too bothered. Of course, if they do then it becomes a big problem.

Just like Musk back in 2018 could be a face dropping moment enough to cast doubt, so for consumers a good thing to know if the person in charge is potentially problematic enough to cast doubt in usage of the product over alternatives.

Makes it harder to defend with the statement the official Proton account made on reddit which they have since then removed and kept editing. Makes you wonder what do they actually believe and if this is their attempt to be apolitical how much are they self censoring their true views on the matter to seem more palatable.

I haven't fully committed to a new email yet to fully transfer over to, but I have been testing out tuta with it being one of the emails recommended by privacy guides. Still undecided though on what paid option to move to.

They haven't left bluesky but they got backlash there too and have stopped being active for the past couple of weeks compared to on Twitter.

Reason this has gotten lot of attention is that the way US has been negatively affective international citizens. Even if someone wants to keep their head in the sand when it comes to the US it's hard to ignore when they keep threatening tarrifs and then start threatening allies and forming bonds with their enemies.

I hope for a Linux phone to pop up and become widespread someday. Maybe if Android emulation on Linux improves so people can at the very least use Android apps while running Linux a phone like that might become a possibility in the future.

With US aligning with Russia and North Korea and their party taking Kremlin talking points of refusing to say Russia is the aggressor it shows a huge lack of foresight that you'd expect from a CEO. Not like the party hasn't been accused of being pro Russian years prior or stuff like Project 2025 plans to kill democracy.

Checked both out of curiosity and seems like they are active on twitter but stopped posting weeks ago on bluesky after their feelings got hurt there from ceo backlash.

Yeah it seems it's conservatives who are the ones who like to obsess and make it the topic of discussion to make their followers think it is the left's primary platform of focus.

And then they also fixate on entertainment like games or movies to further play up how everything is woke as though it's the left politicians making all that.

And it's because that's really the only compelling thing they have to play up to their followers who too make it their entire identity of conflict, since their other policies aren't working class friendly.
