  • Freetube (desktop) and newpipe (android) is great for those who would like a subscription feed without an account, local Playlist, download videos, and save view history while remaining account free.

I use pipepipe on mobile with it being a fork of newpipe with sponsor block, and lets you use a throw away YouTube account it uses only to access age restricted videos.

  • Ukraine security and Europe and Canada and Mexico and Asia hinges on a weakened US and Russia. I am very serious about wanting all countries to have nukes.

And not just one but enough to scare even the biggest country away from attacking even the smallest country.

Have had enough of this benevolent dictator business when it comes to hoping the world power isn't too abusive.

  • Make US weak again and never ever let them become strong again. Let's go rest of the world. Let those war factories roar back to life and become less reliant on US military industry. And everyone should have nukes.

  • It is interesting that forums had less people but felt very active and didn't need the millions of people that places like modern day social media do.

And I think big part of it is the presentation of material with threads that get bumped up when people comment and can keep going on for years.

In reddit type social media a thread is considered dead after like a day or less, so needing a new one even if it is the same topic to start up conversation again. Even more the case for one off comment type social media like mastodon.

  • I hear echo chamber brought up a lot but never really have seen examples of a place that doesn't have an echo chamber.

I think that's just the natural result of people forming communities as opposed seeking out battle grounds for adversaries.

Only thing that can be done is offering people the tools to freely form as many communities as they want with the main barrier being who feels compelled to join the new echo chamber community.

  • One question is if there is something needed on Amazon is it the lesser evil to go get it from aliexpress instead cutting out the middleman and going direct from what is most likely from China anyways?

  • Can it be called a minority when more people voted for trump? And can't just assume people who didn't vote wouldn't support him.

Bigger question is how many Americans not in the military would willingly sign up to fight against Canada, and what would happen if there started being drafts. Even supporters of wars turn out to be cowards when they or their children are actually forced to participate.

So that is likely the scenario that would turn trump supporters against the US and lead to inner conflict and unify both sides of the political spectrum.

  • Hopefully Canada jumps at this too and tries to recruit these former government employees. It'd be too good a chance to miss out on with them sharing the border with a very hostile country.

  • That assumes most Americans are against what Trump is doing which is not the case based on election results. And unlike the civil war for slavery its not like opposing sides are neatly divided by regions this time around either.

It's more like a random mixture of differing sides living side by side, so rage against the machine would end up looking more like neighbors carrying out reenacting their favorite moments from the Purge movies and just what looks like indiscriminate mass murder between civilians. Not even state vs state.

  • US assurance means as much as Russian assurance anyways, and US is known to go back on deals they themselves proposed and signed like what they are doing to Canada. So if the US isn't even making a good faith attempt at a deal they likely wouldn't stick to in order to protect Ukraine it just shows how corrupt negotions were from the start.

  • Before completely cutting off ties from the US showing the public attempts had been made for diplomacy and providing evidence of what a bad actor US has become is important.

Showing is way more impactful and supports moves made afterwards than just making claims and cutting ties.

So not completely pointless, since the public needs to be able to come to the conclusion themselves first before drastic foreign relation changes can be made.
