Can't relate. 33 and was awake for ~33 hours straight yesterday. Had to force myself to go to bed because I wasn't getting tired. Slept for 5 hours and up and at 'em again.
Well, luckily you can continue on without knowing that because it's a myth. @Kolanaki@pawb.social is not the only one who believes this, I did up until a couple of years ago, but it luckily isn't true.
The F word does mean bundle of sticks, this is true. But it wasn't applied to homosexuals due to being burnt at the stake. The term 'Fslur-Gatherer' was someone that collected the sticks to be bundled and were often women. The theory is that it was born out from gay men being referred to as feminine. The other option is that it was saying that someone was a burden because a bundle of sticks is awkward to carry. There isn't any complete proof of that, but it's the most logical step as to where it came from. However we can completely rule out the burning at the stake as to why the term was used for two main reasons.
First is that while homosexuals were burnt at the stake, that was in the middle ages and centuries removed from the slur being used to mean homosexuals. However the slur when it was initially coming into language never had any death penalty connotations to it. It was just a slur that was used derogatively but there isn't any evidence that it was used in relation to death specifically. The second is that the term grew in popularity in the UK but England and the colonies had never used being burnt as the stake as a punishment for homosexuals.
It's a convincing urban legend, but an urban legend nonetheless.
Still are. I got a phone book delivered a week ago, I shit thee not. Granted I'm on a small island and the book is small too. But like, you can pay to have your number removed from the book. Can you have it removed from this? Not to mention all the 2FA stuff that can be connected to the phone number. Someone clones your number or takes it and suddenly they've got access to a whole lot of your login stuff.
Oh I use that fucking constantly but with friends who also don't give a shit. Not everyone has the same reaction to the word that I do. Someone did actually yell that in my face when actively trying to kill me. In a way to cut that anxiety, I just doubled down on using it whenever I wanted to as a reclaimation. It works for me. Not for everyone.
That being said... I'm gay. The word 'gay' meaning a bad thing has kind of come full circle in the gay community itself to an extent. A shocking amount of us will openly call something gay that sucks in a sort of jokingly reclaiming way.
The old definition of bisexual is attracted to both men and women. The more correct definition is attracted to more than one gender. So saying "fuck him and fuck her" is limiting to two specific genders and not reflective of what bisexual is.
Option 1: Leave the website entirely and let it collapse.
Option 2: Stay on and use a gay porn account with thousands of followers to bully billionaires and spread more gay porn to lower the value of the site.
Y'all can leave all you want and I applaud you. But I am going to flood that place with so much fucking cock. In this case, I believe the usage of Twitter to be ethical.
Actually, screw this. Let me just cut this off now so I can get on with my life.
The country had one brief period of some sanity
The operative word in that sentence is the word SOME. Stop painting my opinions to be all or nothing, stop shoving words down my throat, and actually read what I have to say. I also did not specify the period I was talking about, only that Reagan drop kicked it out. You made an enormous amount of assumptions and pretended as if they were reality. They're not.
If you are curious next time, the correct thing to do is ask for elaboration or clarification.
The purpose is not to enhance any meaning, but to 'dominate' over the reader.
Opinion, not fact.
The word is used in an 'adversarial' context - an insult and a challenge to the reader.
Opinion, not fact.
It is symbolic of the general anger that we see so commonly today
Opinion, not fact
and I submit it is a direct cause if that anger
Of that anger. Oh yeah, and opinion. Not fact.
The demise of American civility is completely mapped onto the curve for the use of these obnoxious, angry, combative vulgar terms in the common vernacular.
First, opinion and not fact. Second, I'm Newfie. We swear like sailors because we are sailors. Third, human history is filled with profanity and vulgarity. So unless you want to try and argue that profanity was what caused Vesuvius to explode, you don't really have a leg to stand on here.
Once again. This is not a rural elementary school. I do not owe it to you to not swear. You owe it to yourself to conduct yourself like an adult and avoid what you do not like. Preaching to people and trying to insist your opinion is objective truth will do you zero favors in any part of your life. You should probably knock that off.
Personally, I'd argue that people who insist their own beliefs are universal truth are the people who brought down the United States and every other major power in human history. You know, because that is actually what happened and there is documented evidence of. Not "Swearing collapses a countries civility."
I'd say you don't have a leg to stand on but that's obvious to anyone looking at this conversation. All they see is me standing in a fuckfield that is barren and you leaning up against a collapsing fence.

I think I'm broken.
