I think 2020 was it for me too. I had already stopped visiting more than once every 2-3 months but 2020 was when I finally said wow, fuck this. Some guy who I had to work with professionally - he was actually a show director for a trade show we attended each year - posted a pic, in all seriousness, about how the covid test put a microchip up your nose. Thanks Facebook, I really needed to learn about that. Well, fair warning about the guy I guess. Then I tried to sign into my account just for maintenance in 2023 and though I'd used a linked IG account fairly regularly, and obviously they could tell, it said that I needed to upload my driver's license to sign into Facebook. Like, who do they think there are? No.

Absolutely no reason to suggest that Apple “forgave” him, or that it was a mistake. I hate whoever wrote this article.

I suppose it could be some compulsive thing, but I doubt that everyone stealing like that has a bonafide mental disorder.

I suppose I’m still haunted by that one photo of him, I think on some golf day, where he looked like a demented elf. It was going around for a while but I had a hard time finding it last time I looked.

Something similar happened in Albuquerque recently with a doctor/medical executive. She has a salary of almost $300k a year. It’s unclear what makes people do this - entitlement? Greed? For thrills? I can say though from experience running a small independent retail art supply store, the people who stole from us the most were well-off women who were otherwise good customers. It seemed like they thought they were entitled to a “special discount”, like they resented that we consistently made money from them and didn’t offer special deals.

My mother cooks a wide range of stuff that is generally good. I don’t agree with some of the ingredients but the methods and results are solid.

My father used to cook a limited range of decent dishes but seems to have forgotten about that, and has become incredibly lazy about food… if it’s not something frozen he can microwave in 3 minutes, he considers that way too long and too much effort. Their microwave stopped working and had to be replaced, and in the meantime, he was simply flabbergasted and thought he was going to starve to death. He apparently didn’t realize you could heat canned soup on the stovetop.

Well, that was a pretty cluelessly written article. The two things are entirely unrelated. The headline seems to imply that Apple changed its mind about the fraudulent activity and was wrong, but that is not what the details support.

Also, when the hell does anyone from the government show up to say that? If I need them to help me, I contact them. If they're contacting me, it's because they're helping someone else (employees, crime victims, the public).
