  • She/it is the only spammer I have encountered here. Would have thought it would be easy to block because each time is almost an identical message..

Beehaw has a manual approval process at least which must weed such spammers from signing up... yet allows them into my inbox despite my reports.

  • The buffer will not occupy 50% of Gaza. The rest of the control is supposedly temporary.

I understand having a buffer like Berlin used to but in this case is it perhaps mainly destructive theatre? I am suspicious that a lack of buffer will be used to excuse the lax vigilance by Israel on Oct 7 once investigations begin.

  • On a serious note:

My job in a ten day Vipassana retreat was to wash the dishes. No eye contact with anyone or talking. We were meant to focus on the moment.

It was only at the very end that I realised my dishwashing partner was a woman I would have found attractive so I really did give it my best shot but was pissed off at the end because I felt no different from all the meditation.

A year later when tripping at a forest rave I decided to meditate in the chill out zone. I realised then that the Vipassana did have benefits after all and took up meditation again.

  • Furthermore...

Until recently, if it was in Australia she could have been gagged by the court supposedly for her own protection.

So a court decision could go against her for absurd reasons which ignore facts but nobody would be allowed to talk publicly about such injustice.

Grace "Tame was groomed and repeatedly sexually assaulted by a paedophile teacher, but for years Tasmania's gag laws meant she was unable to speak out, while her abuser bragged on Facebook."

Similar gag laws still apply in Australia.

  • While you do get my upvote consider this:

Encyclopedia Brittanica could have been said to be for people who didn't have the attention span to read broadsheets and history books.

Obviously Brittanica was information while TikTok is lolcats and requires no reading skills but am curious to hear other not-so-obvious reasons why it is not a fair comparison.

  • Are you a male of working age killed by an Israeli bomb? You are assumed to be a member of Hamas.

This was a dumb part of the article, I agree.

IDF have claimed the ratio of civilians to militants was 2:1. If 72% of the killed were male then combining the two statistics would imply that about half the males "of age" were militants... FWIW.

  • Well I knew Hamas lied about the Al Ahli hospital attack near the start of the war. Said there were 500 killed by an Israel bomb but footage came from Gaza the next day of a few obliterated parked cars but with no damage to the hospital. I did hear there were about 20 people camping nearby though who were unfortunately killed.

The night of the incident Al Jazeera happened to live stream rocket attacks by PIJ (Palestinian Intifada Jihad) on Israel showing one of them misfiring to boomerang and land in the hospital vicinity.

Hamas didn't even need to fake footage of hospital damage, Western media took their word for it. BBC was one of the very few who issued a retraction a few days later but I found all the above myself online and I am a nobody so why were they so loose with investigating and thereby inflaming tensions?

Am a leftie but lost friends by pointing the above out. I knew then that facts from either side would not matter much from here on - isn't that why Trump was voted in? Facts mean little now to most people unfortunately when emotion is involved.
