  • I was able to advance academics twice through convincing convincing people that I was more than my bad grades.

First was me convincing another highschool to accept me and let me skip a year after I almost failed my first year in high school.

Second was applying for my current university, with decent grades, but needing scholarship.

Both times I spoke with people in charge of making those decisions through online interviews and managed to convince them to take chances on me

  • I had a Sharp SH-03L for a while, it's a business version of one of their flip phones that didn't even have a camera.

The OS was actually android 8.0 but really stripped down to basically only do the whatever apps a flip phone has.

I was able to sideload apks through ADB, but ironically, I actually wanted the google stuff to work since a lot of the apps required it to log in and other things.

The thing was pretty cheap though, paid like $15 for it

  • Same feelings here, I used to average around 1k hours per year in my "active" years.

All of the issues with CS2 kinda put the end to that, played the beta, then stopped for a year, and now I play few games every few days

  • In Latvian it's just

    Hedgehog = Ezis

Sea urchin = Jūras ezis (Literally sea hedgehog)

Same almost for the porcupine tho, it is called dzeloņcūka, which basically translates to barbed pig.

  • I work with frozen food boxes and on some of them you can just give few good smacks along the top and half of the tape will just unstick. Then just give a good pull to one of the halfs and you are in.

To break down the box, just flip it on the side and punch, usually that is enough to get one end of the tape unstuck and you can pull it off.

    No tools needed at all

  • Same rule would quite honestly improve Lemmy quite a bit.

Not because of political reasons, but because it gets annoying opening any news post, expecting interesting discussion, and getting a bunch of versions of "eAt tHe rIcH" and guillotine comments instead.

    That's like reddit behavior

  • Opposite experience for me, we went from 1 to 3 cats by adding the new cat every 6ish years.

Didn't really do anything special, just brought the new cat home and that's it. Maybe has to do with all of them being from the same breed (Oriental shorthair) and the specifics of the breed itself
