  • When you're being encouraged in a place that supplies your income and with that your livelihood, an "encouragement" becomes pressure.

Similarly, my brother-in-law once bought a rather expensive gift for my father-in-law and asked if we wanted to pitch in for it. He's truly a great person, we get along great, and if we said no I don't think it would have been a big deal at all... But being the one who married into the family relatively recently, it's a difficult thing to push back on. And that's in the best case scenario with someone you know, love, and trust. We don't know that OP has that same kind of relationship with their coworkers

  • I did not downvote this comment, but the approach feels a bit more pushed/forced, which drastically takes away from the sincerity. It's great to show support on your own volition, but if everyone is required/pressured to do so, I would question who really is "safe"

  • Ok, Trump is a piece of shit and I'm not one to jump on the "uh, it was totally a joke!" train. That said...

He said he wouldn't be president in 2026 or 2028 in a conversation that occurred in his 2017-2021 term. His "then they rigged the election" comment is ambiguous, sure, but I think there's a very reasonable argument that he's saying "then the Democrats [or whoever] rigged the 2020 election so my second term is delayed 4 years"

There is PLENTY wrong with what he said there, but I really don't think "I won by rigging the 2024 election" hits the mark this time. We lost. It fucking sucks, but for the love of God don't let us stoop to the "stolen election" level without even a half-baked bit of evidence.

  • What country and what law?

Quick edit: you know, if Hulu doesn't include anywhere that they do this, it could be seen as additional consideration (in the legal contractual term of the word - basically, what each party provides for the other) in order for Hulu to provide its service that wasn't disclosed.

Of course, that just means we'll get yet another "We updated our terms and while we're at it we're increasing our rates $3/month. Fuck You." email and that's that.

  • No machine can read my chicken scratches! Or human, for that matter. Including myself.

In all seriousness, this sounds intriguing but I couldn't tell you what I'd use it for. When I write with a pen it's usually a couple quick basic notes. Anything more involved and my typing skills are way better

  • I would like to see that happen. That said, my understanding is that TikTok's data collection is enough to make other social media platforms blush (at least, it was once upon a time. They probably made it worse since then). That, coupled with China not exactly being the US's bestie, makes me feel this is at least a start.

  • My brother-in-law didn't want to carry his jacket around at Disney World, and he didn't want to get a locker for it, so he had his dad turn it in to lost and found. At the end of the day, before leaving the park, he picked it back up.

  • Must be nice to have hindsight.

Even if he were arrested, he almost certainly would have been granted bail until trial because that's what happens to damn near anyone except for extreme cases based on a variety of factors (and before you bring up Luigi yet again, that variety of factors are entirely different)

  • I've never worked at a coffee shop, but I know our taste sensitivities are different at different temperatures. I'd be surprised if they were exactly identical products to account both for that, and the fact that your product is about to be diluted when it gets combined with ice (depending on the temperature before that happens). The ingredients may be more or less the same, but the proportions and concentrations may not be.

  • Again, part of the overall drink is supposed to be made of the water from melted ice. It's hard to compare sizes perfectly with that in mind, but it's a less-extreme similarity to comparing a jug of orange juice with a can of concentrate (the kind you mix with water in a pitcher at home). Different products, but also different sizes for a reason.

  • Did you expect them to offset the less ice with more coffee?

In my experience, many iced coffee drinks are made a bit warm and more concentrated. The ice melts a bit, diluting the drink and giving more liquid overall.

Do they do that to an extreme? Probably. But there's also more to it than "I got a drink with less ice and it wasn't very full"
