    It's a simple calculation. If you pay well, the quality of the workers are gonna be good. If you pay them shit, even for a 3rd world country standards ofc they are gonna be shit.

    The ones who get paid (like software devs in faang), ofc they are good at what they do since they are filtered properly and the pay is good. On the other hand, if you take someone from witch, they aren't filtered properly and hired in mass and they pay is the shittiest and they are the kind of dev you complain about.

  • How good is lemmy/google search (for searching lemmy's post)? It's not gonna be good if both are bad.

  • I think the artists are paid better and fairly in other platforms like bandcamp or by concerts. The amount they get paid in Spotify is so low, regardless of whether their listeners have the premium subscription or not.

    How much have you spent on buying albums in Bandcamp? It must be a lot if Bandcamp is the your only choice for listening to music.

  • in simple terms, a private torrent site (that is closed to public). only users with an account can log in and use the torrents in the website.

    each torrent that the users use has a unique passkey (consider it as an id) so that the site will know what torrents you have downloaded and how much you have seeded it back. they use these stats to monitor users, checking whether they seed for a certain amount of time and whether the users have the required ratio. why do they do this? to make sure that all torrents in their site is available to everyone (meaning there will be no torrents that has 0 seeders, rendering the torrent not being able to use anymore since no one seeds it).

  • YouTube has too many ads to begin with even before watching a video. I really don't mind if I have to watch an ad after watching 2 or more videos but imagine getting 2 ads for every video and an ad after a part of the video. Doesn't YouTube just want to milk money as much as it can from the non YouTube premium subscribers?

  • Twitter once was an online townhall where people can start any movement or use it to spread their movement to wide masses. These days it's just some shitty tool for propaganda.

  • Yeah, the main point of mine was that different people have different views on cinema. For some, it's art. For some, it's an entertainment, a past time. For some, it's business. Having a proper composition of all of these is important.

    Mari Selvaraj's Pariyerum Perumal and Vetrimaaran's Visaranai are cinema to me, but will I suggest everyone the same movie? not.

  • I respect him a lot but I don't think people will consider comic book adaptations as the real cinema. Movies like Spiderman into the Spiderverse and Across the Spiderverse were good, even a good example for good animation. But will we call it real cinema? If we do, does it matter?

  • I wonder how things will be from now on. To take on Sukuna and Kenjaku without Gojo sounds impossible.
