  • Enter Tom Tuberville blocking military promotions in preparation for Project 2025, where they put loyalists in key positions in government and the military who will do what they're told whatever the Constitution has to say about it.

  • Especially when they controlled the house, senate, and presidency in the Obama era.

You mean, for the two whole weeks that they had the supermajority they needed to bypass Republican obstruction?

This long-debunked talking point really needs to die once and for all.

  • Hillary's history was fine. The problem was that Republicans had been poisoning the well against her for decades before her run, to the point that even people who knew better were willing to question her fitness. She would have been no worse than Obama or Biden, but she wasn't given the chance to prove it. Much of what she predicted to come to pass has been vindicated.

  • I read the whole thing, which is why my initial comment to you stands. You won't stop blaming Democrats unless you get the perfect candidate with the perfect policies, and that's never going to happen. So let me know when you grow up, and we can revisit this conversation then.

    Goodbye.

  • Pot, meet Kettle.

If you want better responses, do better. It's already been explained to you in exhausting detail how you can't have your ideal world until we help create it, and still you persist in blaming Democrats for not having the power to do more even when they make the effort. So you'll have to excuse me if I'm not willing to waste my time repeating facts you already know.

  • They haven't legitimately won an election in decades. Every single candidate they ran for President lost the popular vote, and the ones that gained office anyway did so because they're gaming the system. They refuse to change their policies to gain votes fairly; they'd rather impose their policies regardless of the will of voters.

Democracy hasn't failed. They've simply abandoned democracy, and they're no longer trying to hide it.

  • Because you're promoting the "both sides" bullshit, and I'm out of patience with it. If you want to see more progress, get out the vote. Stop repeating Republican talking points.

  • So you're determined to make perfect the enemy of good. Maybe one day you'll learn the world just doesn't work that way, especially not when the party of con artists and grifters is willing to sabotage any initiative that might accomplish what you demand so you buy into the "both sides" bullshit.

  • It's a progression, though. They turned up the heat slowly so people wouldn't notice how they're being boiled alive. Romney isn't a Tea Party/MAGAt like the rest, but he had no problem catering to them during his 2012 bid for the Presidency and he was part of the establishment that paved the way for the extremists. He can afford to distance himself now that he's retiring, but he didn't listen when we warned about the rise of extremism in his party. It's too late to earn our respect for acknowledging it now.

  • He still is. No one in the Senate can stand him, including his allies.

  • They've only been claiming election fraud for decades, and spent millions (maybe billions, by now) in taxpayer dollars trying to find any kind of significant fraud that wasn't from Republicans. They've never once found the smoking gun they promised, which includes Trump's failed special commission while he was in office.

But they're never going to stop pushing that narrative, because they are literally trying to destroy democracy. They want a dictatorship where elections are meaningless and they retain power no matter what. It's been their goal for a long time, and they've stopped pretending otherwise.

  • So a ruthless dictator invaded a country he's wanted to annex for a long time because the rest of the world wants to guard against his imperial impulses? As if he wouldn't have done it anyway in time?

Pull the other leg, it's got bells on it.

  • Frustrated lawmakers run for the exits: ‘DC is broken’

What do you expect when you campaign on the premise that our government is broken, and when elected you do your best to break it?

  • Releasing security tapes give insurgent strategists the opportunity to review evacuation procedures and plan their next coup attempt.

Anyone who thinks this will not be repeated has not been paying attention to history.

  • When you live your life in black and white thinking, there are only binary choices. The idea that their ideas could possibly fail to produce the results they want doesn't enter their heads.

  • Because it benefits Republicans to convince people that voting is pointless and they should stay home. That's why they're making it so hard to vote if you live in a district where Democrats are likely to win.

  • Right? I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't stumbled across the author on BlueSky.
