  • Don’t worry, next election they can get Hitler’s grandson or Putins niece to help them campaign. That should get the average everyday person to come out and vote for them! Everyone loves relatives of super powerful war criminals, right?

  • Is female derogatory? I thought it was just a more scientific classification.

Edit: I work at a large engineering and manufacturing company where some of our products need to take into consideration the difference between male and female anatomy. I just hear “male” and “female” systems discussed on a weekly basis so I think I might sometimes refer to men and women as “male” and “female” outside of work without giving it a second thought.

  • Yeah, let’s not pretend this isn’t absolutely a class issue. Snowden, Assange, and Manning happened under Obama. This is an “us” vs the “elites” Trump is just a convenient excuse for the next democrat to abuse these same powers and be like “well Trump was doing it”

Edit: if you don’t think the Biden administration isn’t doing the same thing right now to protect our precious “Healthcare” CEOs from another “getting even” attempt you are sadly mistaken

  • It’s been years since I’ve worked at Amazon, but even before Covid the cracks in the system started showing. When I joined “consultant” and “MBA” were dirty words. But by the time I was leaving these same “does nothing, demands everything” leaders were all ex-consultants with MBAs. They were all “Program/Product Managers” that seemed to just create requirements out of thin air for no reason to justify their jobs. Engineers had a high bar for promotion, while these jackasses seemed to get one every 6 months. When I left, I was told I was not wanted back and was a “non rehire”. I now get hit up every week to come back and I remind recruiters that I’m a “non rehire” and they are so desperate they are willing to look past that and give a promotion. I usually end the convo by demanding a crazy amount of money so they will stop messaging, but there is always a new recruiter every week

  • I have Premera (which is apparently considered pretty good for an insurance company if there is such a thing). I herniated a disc really bad in my back nearly two years ago. When I injured it I knew right away that it was a herniated disc, again but way worse than last time. Luckily, the doctors in my system are way too familiar with all the tricks for insurance to avoid coverage and I wouldn’t have been able to navigate the system by myself, a few examples.

    1. I initially reached directly out to my spinal doc instead of primary care first, they told me to go through primary care first or insurance will not pay, but tell me after it’s too late because it’ll take months for them to determine final coverage. This saved me about $60k.
    2. Don’t get the MRI at the hospital that is in my network, for some reason they will find a reason to not pay because they use a newer MRI machine or something, instead go to this weird third party company.
    3. have the people in the docs office help you fill out the paperwork and always always always say that “this prevents me from doing my job or affects job performance” even if it doesn’t . One thing the insurance company likes is a paying customer, if you get fired or have to quit, you are no longer a paying customer.
    4. don’t do the bare minimum for coverage, if you are only required to do 12 weeks of PT for surgery approval, do 16 instead. Insurance will always make a way for 12 to actually only be 10 and void any support for your surgery. If you only need one doctors visit, do 3.
    5. you will get sent several forms via mail. Fill every single one out no matter how ridiculous. I had one asking me about pregnancy health, and I’m a guy, docs office said if I didn’t fill it out that the insurance would deny my claim. Also, take a picture each time and make sure you answer the same way every time. Don’t say in one form “I injured myself in my back yard” then in the next form say “I injured myself at home”. They will find a way to say you are talking about two separate injuries and that voids the claims.

Probably a bunch of other stuff I can’t think of

  • My extremely left leaning city did this “law to prevent banning books” then immediately banned all “right wing” books for “safety to the community” concerns. So they don’t ban books just prevent everyone from reading “dangerous ideas” like Jordan Peterson or Douglas Murray. Is a sham on both sides.

  • Disney did what Disney does and killed it. They always take these big IPs and then stack so much bureaucracy around them that nothing ever gets done without getting approved by a committee that is approved by another committee which kills the artists original intent and messaging. They know that they can’t get experienced and talented artists to create their content anymore because they aren’t malleable enough so they either have to shove 10’s of millions down their throat or hire some wanker off the street. Then the wanker they hire off the street is always like “I don’t read the comics, lul XD!” And they right some shitty girlboss Mary Sue movie that no one likes then call all the fans racist, sexist, homophobes. Who was Agatha all along for? Some imaginary audience of post 40 wine aunts that also love marvel and pay for Disney+?

  • The PGA is open to all genders and therefore is more competitive which will always bring more views thus more money. The LPGA is exclusionary based on gender and therefore less competitive and will bring less money and viewers.

You should be happy the less exclusionary league brings in more money unless you love discrimination.

  • I like to shit on Elon as much as the next person, but as someone who works in aerospace mfg, if he understands 3% of SpaceX’s manufacturing and supply chain he is already in the top 99.9999999%. What they have accomplished is absolutely unfathomable and why we have to make exceptions when hiring experienced SpaceX people into our company to pay 2-3x standard pay for them. They really really know their shit and are making everyone in the industry better by leaving SpaceX.

Edit: ITT a bunch of people who have never held a real job outside of ex-Reddit mod and pretending to be an tankie while mommy and daddy pay all of your bills, pretending they understand mfg ops and supply chain. Optimization is extremely difficult and at my last tech job we had to hire a bunch of PhDs to help us figure out a supply chain network issue. The simulations would have to run for hours and took thousands in compute daily.

  • Most of America doesn’t give a shit about California women’s right to an abortion, or that transgenders should be allowed in whatever bathroom they want, or that Trump is “weird”. They care about “am I better off now than I was last year?” And the answer for a lot of people is “no”. They look at the democrats brag about unemployment rates being low and that is inflation is brought under control, while most of America is still paying $5 for eggs that used to be $2. Everyday middle Americans can no longer afford simple things and their kids are worse off than they are. I know this problem wasn’t wholly created by Biden, Harris, or even Trump, but Americans felt like Harris didn’t care about their plight and that her upper class California woman self was really unrelatable. Then Harris spends a lot time trying to get celebrity endorsements and she is so out of touch that she didn’t realize celebrity endorsements actually lose you votes. People don’t care what Beyonce and Cardi B think about politics, well not the smart people or the people’s vote you actually need.

  • Apparently didn’t investigate enough. In high school I had a teacher that had a masters from Columbia and was a total moron. Made me realize that maybe Ivy League is more about who can afford it than brains. Also, journalism isn’t a history degree and it shows. You ever wonder why the best authors on historical topics all come out of Britain and have history degrees? Is well known that American “historians” post 1985 are all trash because they are journalists and not historians.

We need to stop being like “they went to Ivy League so they must be smart!” The most brilliant people I work with went to state schools and I work at a very recognizable tech company.
