  • I've made up my own half-assed fasting as well but I'm still getting used to it so I'm sitting at 14 hours (nothing between 8pm and 10am except for coffee, which I can't quite give up). I drink flat whites so it's not 'proper' fasting but I figure it took a lot time to put the weight so it'll take a long time to adjust to losing it too. I'm using the Lose It app too, since it's got a heap of kiwi foods already loaded and it's not drowning in ads and subscriptions like MyFitnessPal.

15kg is a great effort! Did it take you long to stop feeling hungry?

  • I should definitely look into that, thanks for the tip. This time around there was no sudden decision or flashpoint, just woke up one morning and decided to pay a bit more attention to what I've been doing. I'm hoping the low-key, casual approach sticks a bit better than say, a new years resolution.

  • 22 days in and I'm getting sick of counting these damn calories. Some weight lost but I can't see a difference, so motivation is starting to waver. The moment that next belt loop swings into action I'll be gung-ho again but this stuff is tediously hard.

Still, halfway to the weekend now!

  • Everywhere else has increasing numbers and the UK is about to start tracking again. I'm a compromised snowflake so thought I should hurry up and get it sorted.

Plus my 5G signal isn't what it was so a topup is appreciated 😉

  • Taking today off work so I can wander into town and get a covid booster. Three day weekend that just happens to coincide with Bathurst, and a handy excuse to loll around on the sofa? I'll take it. Each of my 'rona shots have been slightly worse than the previous one so I'll probably need the extra day but after experiencing a dose of the plague and the joys of antiviral side effects, it's definitely the better option.

    Happy Friday!

  • I tested negative with one brand and positive with another brand ten minutes later. RATs are definitely not created equal. I've got both brands still in the cupboard (just in case) but can't remember which is which.

But that was last year and I wouldn't be surprised if mutations have pushed the virus past what the tests can detect.

  • That seems pretty dodgy even though I have no idea how. Are they offering complimentary doctors visits if you register as being too warm?

I'd be keen on trying out a diy standing rig just to avoid the sensors, bugger 'em.

  • Midweek blues are hitting hard from the looks of it.

I'm getting my hair done tonight and am so tempted to get the whole lot chopped off. Not sure if I'm daring enough so will spend the afternoon looking at Pinterest for inspiration.

  • Our local Kmart has their halloween display and their christmas display almost within sight of each other. If they'd been closer I'd have been tempted to put the santa hats onto the giant glowing skulls...

  • Considering how windy that road is I really don't get why the locals went so feral about it being lowered. Even the straighter bits of roads have enough of an up-and-down that you can't see oncoming traffic so you can't overtake slower vehicles.

  • I changed to a super cheap mobile plan recently, since I'm usually on wifi and don't actually make calls so I really don't need much in that regard.

I've also just cancelled my kobo sub and have been going to the library. I mostly used kobo for indie authors so the library is a nice change of pace.

  • That would definitely do the job for bugs; we went heavy duty because we have no fence on that side of the property and people like to walk on the inside of the street trees instead of right on the kerb. The second photo here is what we went for.

It's always worth hitting that Quote button; worst case you'll have a much better idea of how soon you can save up for one.

  • We got a sliding screen door fitted over our ranch slider before last summer. We went for the marine grade steel security mesh so technically we could sleep with the door open (but I'm not game enough to try it deliberately) and it made a huge difference. It was about $1500 and a morning off work while they installed it.
