Yeah seriously, I pay a resume writer almost entirely because I don't want to fuck around with Word formatting it. Lazy I know but totally worth it.

You're the first person I've ever heard say that morals and ethics in AI is bad. How can you possibly say that? I'll hear your response before challenging it, beyond my initial skepticism of course.

So far on lemmy all I've really encountered is a bunch of threads going on and on about how great lemmy is, a bunch of assholes who contradict those threads about how great lemmy is, and a shitton of bugs like the one you mentioned and more. I'll give it a shot I guess but my experience has been pretty underwhelming so far.

I read about an experiment once, where monkeys were placed in a room with a ladder leading to a reward. Whenever a monkey attempted to climb the ladder, they were sprayed with water. Over time, new monkeys replaced the original ones, and even though the water spraying ceased, the monkeys continued to prevent each other from climbing the ladder based on learned behavior. This went on and on even though none of the monkeys in the room had ever been sprayed.

I think about that a lot whenever people say they aren't allowed do something, especially because of religion.

Yeah the "meat suit" comment makes me think some kind of dysmorphia or something , that's friggin weird man. Our meat suits are how we experience the universe and they profoundly impact our state of mind and being. To deny it demonstrates a very odd disconnect from reality.

I've barely even noticed this writers strike because I've hardly even bothered to watch any new Hollywood movies or TV shows in literally years. Everything I have seen recently has been complete garbage. So I find myself watching older shows again and again, more YouTube content, educational and history stuff like that...heck, I've been following some modern film critics like Red Letter Media and just watch their commentary vs the real thing, and it's usually much more entertaining.

I think Hollywood is going to use this opportunity to replace the writers with AI. If it works great, if it doesn't work, nobody will notice or care.

Yes, I would very much like to simply use those descriptors and move on with our lives. This whole discussion is so absurd.

Who, Israel? I didn't know that but sounds right, Israeli tech and education is world class. I meant jewish populations in general around the world though, who tend to be educated and affluent.

It's worth pointing out this isn't true for all jews, the hassidic population of New York for example is famously anti-vax. Thanks to them, things like measles and polio are coming back in NY. They tend to be isolated though so hopefully it'll stay in their communities. I hate plague rats, religious and secular, so fuck 'em.

Jews tend to be educated intelligent people who know to wash their hands, wear a mask, get vaccinated, and stay the fuck at home. I'd imagine they also mostly have white collar jobs that allowed them to work from home and avoid exposure. So once again, just like the black plague, people misunderstand a correlation for causation. Jews didn't poison the well, this asshole is just too fucking stupid to wear a mask and get vaccinated.

The term is POC now you insensitive clod. I have white friends from south africa and black friends from the caribbean so it's inaccurate to call either of them african american. Ever met a black british person? Try calling them african american and you'll get laughed out of the country.

I know black people who aren't from anywhere near africa (caribbean) and white people from south africa. Also met plenty of black brits who are neither african nor american! POC is definitely an upgrade from than absurdity. But they drilled it into us for so long it'll take a while for society to drop it.

It's just very dated and has come to be seen as a non-politically correct slur, even though originally it WAS the politically correct language. I agree with you personally and feel like there are much bigger things to worry about than someone using an outdated politically correct euphemism. There have been so many, it's easy to get confused: negro, colored, minority, people of color, etc. I don't feel strongly about any of this and just say whatever I'm told is acceptable now, so it's not a big deal to me. I do think it would be cool if we could just say black white/asian/hispanic/whatever.

Neither do most people who find themselves in leadership positions at enormous multinational corporations, governments, NGOs etc. Usually it's fine to bumble through but unfortunately the morons often destroy the thing they are tasked with running. It's really annoying and frustrating that one or a handful of people can destroy something and fuck it all up for the millions of customers and employees etc.

I got permabanned from r/politics for saying RBG was a cunt for not resigning when she had a chance. (I stand by that and I'm blown away at how many people are truly offended at the word cunt.)

I was logged in with a different account and posted in politics about a different subject forgetting about that ban. So they permabanned ALL my accounts and blacklisted my IP.
