  • ah, I guess I never got that when I torrented.

  • there's a lot of guides out there. If we were still on reddit I'd refer to the /r/usenet sub community.. Not sure the best resource now... sorry. My setup has been working for probably 8 years at this point with literally no bothering with it.

  • Makes sense. Deno was created by the same person that created node. They’re both going to be terrible, especially when they ignore everything ever discovered in software engineering about writing good code, good frameworks, good languages, etc.

  • haha understandable. his only line is pretty much "I'm Hurkules" 😂

  • Yeah it’s honestly ridiculous that people still torrent. Usenet is by far the better solution, faster, easier, more automated etc.

  • Hercules in New York! It's hilarious to watch exactly once, for how terrible it is.

  • Neither Reddit nor lemmy meet the actual requirements of social media.

    1. Knowing the people you are talking to. Both Reddit and lemmy are anonymous
    2. Status updates on some sort of timeline.

Lemmy and Reddit are forums of forums, and if you want to get more specific they’re link aggregators. Nobody ever called the car forum you visited to ask for car help “social media” because it wasn’t and still isn’t. Same applies to lemmy and Reddit.

  • I don’t speak German so I couldn’t understand the video, but it looks like it was just a powder? Did they have to activate it?

  • Half the stuff posted isn’t meme images. This has just turned into /r/funny essentially.

  • Haha I wonder how many people have actually seen this movie.

  • I voted wrong. Didn’t realize you had to drag. Oh well. I’m indifferent. Haven’t used one for years, but there are a few times it would have been useful

  • This hits a little two close to home…

  • hm. when I test in a private browsing mode it shows Local by default. That doesn't happen for you?

    also:

I honestly think Programming.dev is very well positioned to become a “programming reddit” of sorts. Nice polished sounding domain name, and a discussion platform visually similar to Discourse but with the grunt of the fediverse behind it.

is exactly what I was going for when I created the instance so I'm glad to see others think it could succeed!

  • it's clear from your comments here and in matrix that you think you're always right and you clearly can't take criticism. Good luck in the future dude. You're going to need it.

  • yeah. honestly it stinks because he did have good science videos. but as soon as he sold out and the way he did so I knew he was no longer an educational channel.

  • I thought it was clear that one of the things that are important about is that it can give a way to pay to users and that no one else (that I know of) does it.

Ok, it is now. Thank you for making it clear to me. I misunderstood

Safari or anything else from/for Apple is automatically disqualified.

Ok, thank you for making that clear. May I ask why you're against Apple, but not Google? I consider Google a much higher risk at this point in time.

  • I explicitly said “The token is not needed and I would be fine if they could pay in cash”.

I think that must have been in another thread, because I see no mention of cash anywhere in this thread. I reread all your comments that I've been a part of and still don't see anything like that. I see you mentioning paying someone with patreon, but it seems like you are advocating for crypto in that third bullet, so maybe I'm misunderstanding what you wrote.

Are you also going to blame my language skills for that or can you simply agree that there is no existing better alternative for worldwide micropayments?

I wasn't blaming your language skills, all I was saying is that the only thing I have to go on here is what you've written in this thread. I'm not going into your profile and reading every comment you make so if you have something else in there that I need context on then it's not really a language issue, just a context one.

And yes you are completely right. There are no better alternatives for worldwide micropayments. I don't think crypto is the answer (in fact I've written quite a number of very very long comments over the years on all of the stuff that crypto claims to solve and doesn't), but it would be nice to have a solution to it.

  • removing inappropriate sexual content is completely different than CSAM... a point you seem to be trying INCREDIBLY hard to not understand. Dude, just quit. Please please stop with this nonsense. You are unable to let it go. Every one of us builds bad software at some point. For you this is it. Just let it go, go build something else.

    Sheesh.
